Square Dining Room Table?

Why is this so damn hard?!

Either they are small, counter height, or crazy expensive. Chat Icon

I've checked.... Jennifer Convertibles, Ashley Furniture, Macy's Furniture, JC Penney, Raymour & Flanigan, Bob's, Wayfair, Overstock, Crate & Barrel, All Modern, Gothic Cabinet Craft, Pottery Barn, West Elm, google searched...There's a gorgeous one on Bassett but it's crazy expensive and not doable for us. I've only found 1 that DH and I can agree on at Wayfair and it's meh. I'd like it to be quite large- 60", or at least be able to add a leaf to bring it to 60". I'm not opposed to ordering online, but I'd prefer something I could see in person. Any ideas??

ETA: I'd be just as happy, if not happier, with a rectangular table, but DH will not budge. In fact, square is our compromise from round which I don't like at all.

By pub style do you mean counter height?

Re: Square Dining Room Table?

I just searched far and wide for a kitchen island and advice on here lead me to what I eventually ordered on overstock (I know you said you checked that.)

Maybe try amazon? I almost ordered one off of there but then I found a nicer one on overstock for less.

I would also, if you're local, try going up and down 110 between the LIE and the Southern State. There are tons of dinette places that might have what you are looking for. I just hit most of them recently and saw tons of small tables.

Good luck!

ETA - I just reread your post and saw you were looking for a larger table. I would still try what I suggested but that is going to be harder to find. Good luck!

Square Dining Room Table?

I love the square table from Bassett- it goes on sale a few times a year. DH and I have been negotiating over a new dining room table for a long time and can't agree. That table is one of my top choices.

Square Dining Room Table?

Maybe you could have one made? We had our cabinet maker make a pedestal for our kitchen table. Then I got a granite remnant made into the square size that we wanted. Good luck!

Thank you! Yeah, we were considering having it made or even DH making it himself- he did make his parent's dining room table, but it's not quite as "finished" as I'd like it to be. Can I ask where you had yours made?

There's like 3 that I've found- I did find one I really liked on Overstock and DH hates it. Chat Icon He's pickier than I am!! Though he found one at Bob's that he likes and I hate it. We just can't agree! Chat Icon It's driving me crazy!

Hmmm I'll keep an eye on it because I absolutely LOVE that table. All their furniture in fact, it's just so pricey!

That's what I would do. Honestly, even if you built it our of good plywood, and some nice legs, with a tablecloth over it, you can't tell the difference between a $100 table and a $1000 table. Probably the easiest thing to do is buy a cheap, used table with the legs/pedestal you like, and attach a bigger surface to the top of it.

I have one. I bought it on craigslist honestly. It was a Pottery barn set that was a 60" square and it takes 2 leaves. I'm sure the person who bought it paid a small fortune. 8 chairs, table pad etc.

I paid around $6-700. I'd check craigslist out and possibly the pottery barn outlet.

That's a really good idea! I've seen so many discontinued pottery barn tables that fit the bill, mostly on Pinterest. Thanks! Chat Icon

I love all the furniture at Bassett. We just bought a new couch from them. They had a 30% off sale over the weekend, which was better than their President's day sale. Maybe you can see if they will honor the sale price. We have a few pieces from there and everything has held up very well.

We did it for our kitchen table. So my cabinet guy made a pedestal out of wood, and then I got a piece of granite cut to the size I wanted and installed on top of the pedestal.

I'm sure the cabinet guy could make the top, too. His name is Joe Brittman at Brittman & Son in East Northport. 631-757-8284.

Re: Square Dining Room Table?

gothic craft and cabinet should be able to make whatever you want

another option is to get 2 60X30 rectangular tables and put them together. the benefit of having 2 tables is that you can re-arrange things as needed.
