Any experience with this? I have my 41 week appointment today and I'm being induced next week so I'm wondering if I should ask them to try this today.

I had it done and then I was in labor in less than 24 hours.
I think it only works if your body is making progress on its own. DS was in station 0 and I was 2-3 cm and I was 50-60% effaced.

I had it done a few days before my induction and it didn't do much for me. I still had to be induced but when I arrived at the hospital I was already 3cm (I had no idea) so I was able to skip the Foley and go right on pitocin so maybe it helped a little? The sweep wasn't painful for me so I would definitely try it again if I was trying to jump start labor.

Re: membrane sweep
As far as I know, this is only done if you are already progressing (effaced or dilated), otherwise I don't think it does anything, other than cause some pain.

Exactly the same for me, only I will say it was very painful for me. I don't know whether I was just very sensitive or if my midwife was just very rough, but it hurt so badly that I almost passed out. I literally went deaf for a second and then had ringing in my ears. But it lasted all of like 10 seconds and then it was over.

I had it done at 38 weeks. I was having contractions all week and was 2cm 50%. My water broke while he was doing it!

I had it done around 2 so keeping my fingers crossed. I actually didn't find it painful at all. I did try put my hypnobabies techniques before she went in so idk if that was in my head keeping me calm.

Well the sweep worked, I've been in labor since about 2am. I lasted till about 3pm unmedicated with super strong and close contractions before giving in and getting the epidural. I'm so glad I did.

Hypnobabies soundtrack and DH going through cues with me helped a lot while I was at home. My back labor was too intense I couldn't keep going so I opted for pain meds.

Glad to hear it worked for you! I tried to go natural but didn't have any technique, just planned to tough it out. I got to a point where I decided it really hurt too much and threw in the towel. They definitely do make a huge difference!
