Buying house w/pool vs. putting one in
For those of you who have gotten quotes for an inground pool-what were they? We're trying to decide if we should try to find a house with a pool or put one in ourselves. If you had one put in, did you finance? What was the financing like? Years, interest...etc?? I'd appreciate any info you have. Thanks!!!

Buying house w/pool vs. putting one in
When we were deciding about putting a pool in, we looked at both in ground and semi-in ground. That was almost 4 years ago. We were quoted about $20K for in ground and $10K for semi. We went with the semi.(pics in album). Both quotes were for the complete pool and everything to run it, but not decking or patio around the pool. We didn't finance so I can't offer any info on that

everything depends on size. We have a big yard, so we have a 40,000 gallon pool with salt water. We paid about $32,000. That is NOT including electricity, heater( which we have not gotten, but ran lines) .
We also had brick work done, so that cost a lot too.

Buying house w/pool vs. putting one in
we just put one in. it was about $60,000 including everything (electric, pavers, etc...) but we did a HUGE patio so it would have been about $15,000 less if we didnt go so crazy with the patio. I was told the average is about $50,000 for everything.

I think it will always be more cost efficient if the house already has the pool. Just like any other improvement, you never get 100% of your investment when you sell so it will cost less to have the pool already there. That being said, you have to like the house, location, property, etc as well and it might not be that easy to find. There also might be upgrades or maintenance that the pool needs which will add to the cost.
If you want to choose the pool (type, shape, liner color, type of filter system, heating, decking, etc) then always better to buy the house and add the pool so you can get exactly what you want.

I totally agree. I feel like we are limiting ourselves because we want the house to already have a pool (for the reasons you said). This is tougher than I thought...the search continues!
