Solar Energy Providers
I am looking into solar for my home. I met with NRG and have an appointment with Solar City. Has anyone converted to solar? Any feedback on the process or providers? Thanks in advance!

We just converted and used Harvest Power. It was really, really simple. They assesed out house's usage, figured out the number of panels, mapped their location, installed them, and filed for the permits. We're buying the panel outright and financing them. (Bigger long-term savings). No OOP costs.
After having them for 2 weeks I got an electric bill for a grand total of $29. It's pretty awesome.

We went with SuNation (believe they are a vendor on here). We choose ownership rather then leasing. If you would like more information to eliminate your bill and help the environment, please let me know. Since going live a few months ago, i feel better, i watch my meter spin backwards and it feels rewarding.
As the above poster said, similar situation with survey, permits, etc..

I 2nd the SuNation recommendation. I've had their panels for over 7 years now. Nothing but positive feedback from me.

Now how much on average if you don't mind me asking is the financing for solar panels? Like for example, our highest electric bill was $85. Granted we haven't lived in the house through a summer with central air going but would it even be worth it for me to consider converting?

Summer use is important in order to know how many kwh you use. How many months are you living at the house now?
I am currently awaiting my install from Sunation. My brother has their panels with no issues.
If you have any other questions pm me.

They'd meet with you and analyze your usage (or the previous owner's usage), analyze how much the panels would generate, and determine when/if you'd break even. If they can't get you to 80% efficiency minimum, then they likely wouldn't advise installing solar.

We are having our panels installed next week. We are using Green Logic, based on a recommendation from our neighbor. We interviewed a few different vendors and we chose Green Logic because they put a lot more legwork in upfront to determine our usage and roof integrity.

Re: Solar Energy Providers
We leased through EmPower Solar and they did a great job. I love our panels! We have heated floors in the kitchen and bathroom and a ductless ac/heat unit that we run year-round. We haven't paid more than the connection fee since we installed them. No oop costs and we have a flat monthly lease price (a lot of companies have escalation clauses in their contracts).

Payments are going to be about $70/month. It's still a win- my electric bill could be $200 easily...
