They didnt. It was a recording. But you get to a 4d sponge bob movie with the $11 admission.

If you're a member and admission is free, and you're planning a day in Brooklyn anyway, then yeah, maybe. But almost everything is closed and the admission/parking fees are still what they always were. It's nuts.
There is maybe 30 minutes' worth of stuff to see, plus a sea lion show and the SpongeBob movie (which I haven't seen). Only one indoor exhibit is open so everyone is crowded into one big room. I'm a little claustrophobic and literally had to run out of there and catch my breath. As for outdoor exhibits, there is a touch tank, but you're not allowed to hold the animals like you used to - you can only touch them with one finger now. And there are sea lions (the best part) and penguins, if it's not too warm out. If it's warm, the penguins hide inside or in the shade.
There is almost NOTHING to see or do and they have the nerve to charge a family of 4 over 60 DOLLARS for it.

We do have the membership with free parking
but I would only be going for the aquarium
DD was asking to do the aquarium this week and the one in Riverhead is so far and so expensive
I wanted to use our membership
but I do not want to go all the way to brooklyn if there is only an hour of stuff to do.
I know someone mentioned a movie but it is sponge bob and I do not let my DD's watch that show so I wouldnt want to really want them to see that anyway.
I guess we will try something else

if you have the membership, how about the bronx zoo? they have the aquatic animals and sea lions. It's not EXACTLY an aquarium, but has all the aquarium attractions.

Pretty much this exactly. I don't mind going with "free" admission and parking using the membership. But I do think it would be a waste to pay $13 parking plus $11 admission each for the whole family. It's small and some stuff is still closed. The sea lion show is cute - lasts about 15/20 minutes. There is a shark and Ray tank, the Penguins and the touch tank outdoors. Indoors there are some nice fish but very small. Overall it's a quick trip through. Not much to it. Haven't done the Sponge bob 3D either.
If you're looking to make more of a day though you can leave the car parked at the aquarium and walk on the boardwalk to Luna Park or Denos for some rides or something.
