Re: Southwest Airlines
Pros- Islip is the easiest airport to navigate. Security is quick It's so close to home No JFK! No traffic on the belt! Etc Convenience is the number one pro! Parking is cheap if you are a resident of Islip- you can get the sticker
Cons No seat assignments- worrying if you will be able to sit with your family Boarding is like a cattle call and very very annoying
I find the prices are way higher than flying out of JFK or LGA. Like almost double during certain times of year (spring break)

Re: Southwest Airlines
I love the convenience of Islip, but have a love hate affair with Southwest.
Love it because it flies out of Islip and the free bags. Hate it because of the no seat assignments. I also think the planes are some of the most uncomfortable, claustrophobic planes in the world.
I was on a small commuter American Airlines plane last week and I had more personal space than on Southwest's flights to florida!

They do have some newer planes though. We were on one last year to Florida that looked brand new and we had a lot of space So it really depends.

Really? I think their planes are nice and roomy. I recently flew Delta a couple of times, I'm 5'2 and my knees were touching the seat in front of me. When I fly Southwest there is a TON of room. Maybe it's luck of the draw with the planes though.
We love Southwest. Can't beat the convenience of having an airport 20 minutes from home and not having to deal with the hustle and bustle of LGA and JFK. Not to mention the horrid traffic

Delta is god awful! I upgraded to economy select or whatever it is and it was STILL tight for me. I would have never fit in their standard seats with no upgrade. I'm 5 9

I saw something recently about having the FAA step in and mandate that the space be larger due to safety issues. Something about you can't evacuate the plane quick enough when you are packed in the rows like sardines! Hopefully that comes to fruition, because it's ridiculous! Their economy comfort is the same size as the seats USED to be!

Re: Southwest Airlines
We just flew to disney out of islip in southwest. It is SO much better than flying out of JFK or LGA in every way. Flights were only a wee bit more than it would have been to fly out of LGA and they wound up cheaper because of the free checked bags. Biggest downfall Is the no assigned seats but we did fine with that.

Re: Southwest Airlines
Elite is a new airline starting in June will fly out of Islip to Orlando. Check them out. Heard prices are much cheaper than Southwest

I thought that would be the case, but when I looked them up a couple of weeks ago after I saw their press at ISP, it was $$$. Like $199 each way, and they only fly twice a week or something absurd.
