possible dog adoption
Currently have a 9 year old beagle and two kids ( 3 & 6). I will until I look for work again in 2-3 years so an adult will be home. MY DH works full time. We own our home and have a fenced in yard.
With two kids, do you think getting a 2nd pet / dog is crazy? We do not travel that much (maybe once a yr for a 4 day weekend).
Do you have a preference for males or females? If so, why?
We are considering a dog almost a year old - I realize puppies are a lot of work and may be too much for our older dog.

Just be patient. We adopted both dogs. Although we got coco as a pup and chloe when she was 2 and coco was almost one. Coco changed for a few weeks. Now they are the best of friends. They keep each other company being we both work.
We travel a few times a year and my parents watch them.
We have 2 girls but it just worked out that way. Good luck. I am so glad we have 2. I would have 2 more if I could.

I got my dog when she was about 1 yr old. The best thing. No need to potty train, no teething, you will have a better understanding of his/her personality. I like female but that's me.
At 3 and 6 a small yappy dog is a no no IMP. A mid sized mix is a great options, even a gray hound. They are kind and don't require a ton of exercises
Good luck.
