I'm curious - does it hurt?? I've passed by a few kiosks when women were having it done and it looked painful. That's the only thing stopping me from trying it.

It pinches (think lots of tweezing done in quick succession), but it's so quick that the pain isn't much of anything at all. It hurts less than waxing, IMO, and was definitely more effective for me because it gets everything you want it to get, whereas with waxing I always had a few stray hairs here and there.

I think it hurts way more then waxing but the process is much faster. I also noticed it lasts just as long as the waxing for me.

I think it hurts less than waxing. I used to get irritation and bumps for 3 full days after waxing and now with threading, the redness goes away within the hour and no bumps!

I think it really matters how thick your hair is. My eyebrows are very thick and threading was one of the most torturous things I have every did. I was crying like a baby. Waxing, while it may be a little red afterwards, it's over in 2 minutes while threading felt like I was there for days.

Re: threading
It hurts a little, but no more than waxing. It's so much more precise than waxing. Been threading for years.

Threading doesn't hurt if the use the right kind of thread.

Re: threading
I have been threading for so long I don't even feel it anymore. It is also supposed to be better for your skin. Waxing pulls at your skin more and you are more likely to get wrinkles from it. I like Threading because Waxing makes me break out.

I loved threading but I'm less enthused that they put the thread in their mouths so I'm back to waxing.

I also think it depends on the person's pull. Some people are SO great - they pull the hair out so fast, it doesn't hurt at all. Others pull slower and then it does hurt. The pain is short lived though and my eyebrows look so much better than they did when I got them waxed. I feel like they are a lot more precise.

Love it been doing it for over 20yrs. It doesnt even hurt anymore. It will get to the point that you will barely have any hair left and its only cleanup.

Threading is AMAZING and I haven't let wax touch my eyebrows in almost 10 years.
I've had some people do it and it hurt so bad I was in tears, and then I've had my regular girl do it and it after the first pass of thread, I barely feel anything at all. I honestly don't think it's worse than waxing and then tweezing hairs.
ETA: I had not been for WEEKS and WEEKS to my eyebrow girls and my brows were rough as f****k. This is the before and after of how she cleaned me up. The threading took all of 10 minutes and I didn't break out...just was as little red afterwards but it went away. It's so much better for your skin because waxing is continuously ripping off layers of skin which can lead to your skin sagging faster compared to the rest of your face, giving you more wrinkles.

Well, considering that some lame-o dripped wax in my freakin' eye and didn't care that I was in pain, I agree that threading has been the way to go for me.

I love threading but hardly ever go because unless I go when I'm in the city I'm out of luck because I can't find a place on LI.

Yes! Seems so unsanitary. the part they put in their mouth doesn't touch your skin.
