Alternative to Keurig

I wrote a post the other day asking about an alternative to Keurig. I bought one a few months ago and The coffee had a horrible plastic taste. They sent me a replacement and that was fine until a month later when the screen went blank. So they sent me another and once again it had the plastic taste. They sent me another reservoir and still the coffee made me gag. I was so frustrated I went to bbb and found the I-coffee made by Remington. It looks just like a Keurig but not as fancy. Finally after months, I have coffee that I can actually drink. I am so disappointed with the new Keurig and I hope I don't have a problem getting a refund. Just wanted to let you know there are other machines that use k-cups and the I-coffee is pretty good so far Chat Icon

We have this one, after several Keurigs crap out on us. I couldn't stand it anymore, nothing worse than wanting a cup of coffee in the morning and the BAM Keurig craps out (on more than once occasion).

This one uses regular ground coffee, and has a cup in it you fill with the grounds and hit go and it makes you a single cup. Decent strength and hasn't crapped out on me once in two years, plus no K-cups.

I use a pour over porcelain filter. Pour boiling water over the grounds and I get the perfect mug of hot coffee.

I have the Cuisinart version of a Keurig machine and I LOVE it! I think it works so much nicer than my past Keurig machines.

Re: Alternative to Keurig

I didn't realize there were alternatives. I thought I was stuck with Keurig lol. I love the I-coffee now. It tastes so much better. I will look into the other machines mentioned in the future. A happy mom is a mom with coffee ??. At least for me!

Alternative to Keurig

I was sick of the bad tasting Keurig coffee so we went back to a regular coffee pot and the taste is just so much better.

I thought I was the only one who hated Keurig coffee. When I say that, people look at me like I'm crazy. I have a regular coffee pot and it just tastes so much better.

DH isn't crazy about it either. He's actually gotten into French press coffee lately, he likes a strong brew and he finds the French press to be even better than the drip pot.

Me too. Keurig coffee is so weak and watered down to me, no matter which kind I try. We stick to a regular drip coffee pot.

Just reozed you want something to use k cups with

Re: Alternative to Keurig

How is ease of use with the Nespresso? Considering one when the Keurig finally goes. Is it pods similar to Keurig? Are they more expensive?

Re: Alternative to Keurig

I have an older keurig. I don't LOVE the taste of the coffee, but it's just way too convenient considering I'm the only coffee drinker at home. We recently got a nespresso and I am obsessed. We got the original line, so I can only make espresso (short and long) with it. The virtuoline allows you to get brown coffee pods as well. I didn't opt for this because the pods are expensive and I wasn't planning on getting rid of my keurig. Sorry, long story short, the nespresso makes good coffee, just a little pricy!

Eta: the nespresso pods are not cheap. You can get 'generic' pods for much cheaper but I hear that if you want the crema (which I love), you really need to go with the nespresso pods.
