Blue Apron, Hello Fresh?

Out of the home delivery services available, which one do you like best?
My DH is vegetarian and I don't really like most fish.

I like Home Chef. They have a few non meat/non fish options. I believe your first set of meals is only $10 each https://www.homechef.com/invite/enZEkU8Xp1Q2

Blue Apron has more "interesting meals" and I find their directions to be easier and takes less steps.

Hello Fresh has more generic meals in my opinion from what I've tried, their directions feel overly complicated, but I love their packaging.

Both are awesome - look for coupons you can probably try both for free for a week and see what you think.

Re: Blue Apron, Hello Fresh?

Someone asked about this a few weeks ago so I'm just going to paste my response because I've tried a bunch of them:

I have accounts with 4 of them. I choose whichever has the best meals for the week and skip the others. I like them all really but I have to pick meals I think DH will eat because he's not into healthy eating at all. He would be perfectly fine eating junk every night. If you want to try any of these others, I can send a free trial or at the very least a coupon for 50% off (it depends on which one you want to try).

Blue Apron - $59 for 3 meals (for 2 people). BA is a lot of prep work. That's really the only difference between this one and the others. Nothing is done for you. I've learned a lot having to prep everything though. I can make just about anything from scratch now and it doesn't take me any longer to make dinner then it normally would. I don't buy anything prepackaged anymore.

Home Chef - $59 for 3 meals (for 2 people). They make it easier by doing some things for you (like peeling the garlic). The meals are always delicious though. Once or twice, the meals just didn't seem big enough for 2 people. Not for a dinner anyway. They would have been great for lunch but it wasn't enough food for dinner. I called them once just to give them my opinion that the meals were too small and they credited me, so that was nice and unexpected. I like the meals a lot.

Hello Fresh - $69 for 3 meals for 2 people. I like the way they package the food and some of the easy prep work is already done. It's always well organized. Sometimes I'm confused by how much of each ingredient to use though. The one meal had a 3 inch piece of ginger included in the box and it said to mince it but it didn't say how much to actually use. I ended up guessing and using a little under half of it and the meal was amazing. I'm glad I didn't use all of it because it would have been way too much. The meals are always really good.

Green Chef - $80 for 3 meals for 2 people. This one is great. I get the organic box. I thought DH would hate some of these meals because they are unique but he actually loved them. I also feel like they are healthier, I'm not sure why I think that but they seem more whole foods / earthy. Like quinoa as a side instead of white rice for example. They have cheaper options too and they also have a gluten free option or you can even choose a Paleo plan.

I use to have an account with Plated. They were about $70 a week (so a little more expensive) and the quality was the same. I did like how they would allow you to pick exactly which meals you wanted though. Not sure if they still do... but they used to charge a monthly fee just to have an account (I think it was $10) so I didn't like that and canceled it.
