Thank you's - generic message or handwitten?
I am throwing DH a surprise party and I want to order thank you's to match the invites. I am just not sure if I should have a generic message already written in it or leave it blank for DH to write his own thank you.
Thoughts?

If u're gonna have thank u cards, handwritten ones would be more special.

TBH I wouldn't expect a thank you card from a grown man...I am sure I am in the minority though.
I think pre-written is just fine however.

Generic/pre-printed ones don't bother me. Sometimes they include a handwritten note, too, especially for nicer gifts.

This. I usually gets ones with a preprinted message than just write a few personal lines myself underneath it before signing my name

Re: Thank you's - generic message or handwitten?
pre-DD I was all pro handwritten thank yous and judgy about them.
post-DD, I'll be lucky to get the thank yous out at all. haha. I think generic is ok. And I've gone back over it in my head and mentally apologized to all the moms I had judged before lol.

i would be ok with a generic one but i would also be ok with no Thank you. ( i know the horror) honestly its just going to go right in the garbage once i read it which is why i am ok for not getting one. i think saying thank you at the party is good enough

Re: Thank you's - generic message or handwitten?
I don't usually like generic thank yous (I feel like why bother then?) but coming from a grown man, it's fine. The last thank you I got from a grown man was from a 50th bday party and his wife (very obviously) wrote it. That was strange.

I would do a preprinted one but leave the space for him to write his name and maybe a personal message.

Thank you's - generic message or handwitten?
If I gave DH a bunch of blank cards to fill out they would either a) never get sent out or b) I would get annoyed that it's taking so long for him to write and wind up doing them myself. I usually hand write all of my thank yous but in this case I would get pre-printed.

Handwritten. I really don't like when I receive a generic printed thank you.

I guess I am in the camp where I could care less if its handwritten or pre-printed.

I usually get preprinted cards then add a short personalized note- I would be lucky if I could get DH to sign his name to thank you cards for a party.

Re: Thank you's - generic message or handwitten?
There is nothing wrong with a generic message printed, but they should still come with a personal written note. Leaving them blank just gives you more room to write. If you print something I have seen just -Thank you, or Thank you for celebrating. But then the person has also written a nice handwritten note.

Re: Thank you's - generic message or handwitten?
I would have them printed because there is NO way I would ever get DH to sit down and write out thank you's, he would never, ever get around to it. So I would absolutely have them printed and just let DH sign his name. Handwritten thank you's are nice but they end up in the same place as the printed ones...........in the garbage. A thank you is a thank you, I think everyone gets too caught up in all of the specifics of thank you cards. JMO.
