Genetic Testing results
I did my first IVF cycle last month. 10 eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized and 2 made it to day 5. We did PGD on the 2 embryos and I got a call today that both were abnormal. While I'm so upset that we have nothing to transfer I'm also relieved that we did the genetic testing and didn't transfer a bad embryo. Today was day 2 so I was able to switch from doing a transfer cycle to starting another stim cycle. Hoping that this one is better.
Has anyone had "abnormal" PGD results and then gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I've also had a miscarriage and chemical pregnancy. I'm "unexplained" but my FSH is slightly elevated (the highest it's been is 11). I'm worried that I have "bad eggs" and this may never work....

Re: Genetic Testing results
I'm sorry to hear about your embryos. I have done pgd in the past and ended up transferring 2 normal embryos. The third was abnormal. I did an FET but it failed. I've had 2 miscarriages, a high fsh and multiple failed cycles so that's why I chose to do PGD. However I did get pregnant afterwards on a natural cycle that gave me my daughter. My fsh at the time was in its 20s!!! I cried so bad when the doctor told me my fsh had risen so much. He was willing to continue treatments but I was so defeated I gave up. I'm pregnant again with my second after another natural pregnancy. Don't give up hope. Your fsh is only slightly elevated. It may take more work and a bit longer but it is possible to have a successful pregnancy. I would take coq 10 and try acupuncture if you haven't already. Good luck

Re: Genetic Testing results
look at it this way, 35-50% of the embryos retrieved in IVF will be abnormal for whatever reason. (or so I've read in multiple places)
are they going to tweak the protocol for cycle 2 to try to get more eggs?

Thanks! I have been doing acupuncture and I looked into coq10 and picked some up today.
My doctor did tweak my protocol this time. He increased my Menopur so hopefully that gets me more eggs.

Re: Genetic Testing results
Have you done your research on PGD? There is a lot of evidence that PGD finds abnormality where there is none. Many doctors feel that PGD results in women discarding embryos that would have yielded healthy babies if they had transferred them. If you do a search on my username, you will see what happened to me. I believe Dr. Braverman just did a research study examining this formally.
