Thank, but I'm federal...worst insurance coverage ever. We dont even have dental coverage! We have to sign up for a separate policy.

Re: Weill-Cornell, Dr. Kang, Garden City

Had my first weekend monitoring appointment in the city. In was like a zoo/factory. Not sure how long I can keep this up for.

Anyway, I'm just wondering about the billing department. I read terrible reviews. My insurance already rejected a claim because they billed "the center of reproductive medicince" and not the doctor, so now i owe $600 for a 3 minute ultasound appt. When my doctor is listed as the provider, my insurance will cover it. Can't wait till I get more claim rejections bc the billing department keeps screwing up. Of course, billing is closed now so I have to wait til Monday to speak to someone.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with billing problems. I have no coverage once insurance finds out I'm receiving fertility treatments...which is what has already happened.

The billing dept. at Cornell is a nightmare. I had a uterine sounding and saline infusion sonogram. I don't have any fertility coverage. We were told that insurance never pays for this test and will cost x amount (roughly $600). We paid it in full at the time of the visit only to receive an additional bill for over $500 for that same date of service. I cannot get a hold of anyone on the phone. The woman in at the Garden City said it's an additional cost because they process it through insurance (even though they said this is what it costs, please pay it in full, which we did). We have been trying to speak to someone on the phone without any luck. They send bills to collections faster than you can say "IVF" (which is what happened) without giving you any opportunity to clarify the reason for the bill. We have written a letter stating our questions regarding the bill as well as why we are fighting the charge since it falls under the "Surprise Bill Law" category. It has been several weeks, we have yet to hear from them.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Best of luck, you will need it.

Oh my god. Unbelievable. I read that they send collection notices out immediately...Guess it's true.

I called the main number this morning. They said they couldn't help me and I have to call the billing dept for the center of reproductive med. Got transferred back to the main billing department twice. The lady I spoke to was very nice when I told her I kept getting transferred and no one would pick up at the rep. Department. She said ask to speak to a supervisor. I said I would but no one will talk to me! She was mad that they were not picking up and insisted she would get someone. At this point I've been on the phone for over 20 mins. The right person finally picked up and was incredibly rude. She would not let me talk and tried to transfer me back to the main billing dept. Finally got her to listen. She said all blood work will be sent to the reproductive medicine department...therefore my insurance will not cover it. I had 2 hormones tested and it cost me $600. I can't wait to get the bill for thexample blood work where they tested about 8 hormones. This is enough to make me switch doctors.

By the way, the girl at the GC office definitely has her stuff squared away. Is her name Jen? Maybe I'll call her.

The woman I spoke to at Garden City was Diana...hoping she'll get a refund from Charm School. I've never met Jen.

I'm leaving Cornell for other reasons. I really liked my doctor and I liked Dr. Kang when I saw her for monitoring. I'm just really unhappy with how things are run at Cornell. I know a lot of patients who've gone there are happy with the way they run things because they are more on top of things than a lot of places but I feel like I'm at the DMV for Vaginas when I'm there and they don't care about patients' needs or see them as people. It's all about production, efficiency, and being profitable.

Choosing a clinic is a personal decision and what works for one woman may not work for another. All I know is that I've reached my threshold of what I'm willing to put up with so I'm looking elsewhere.

To be honest though, I don't know if other clinics' billing departments are any better. I can't speak from experience, but I'm bracing myself for more billing headaches.

Good luck! I hope things are sorted out soon.

I agree with you 100% about Cornell. Dr. Kang is nice, but that's about it. I feel so rushed every time I'm there. She hasn't really explained much to me. The weekend monitoring was a disaster and I got there right at 630. The wait to see Dr. Kang was about 20 minutes...which was fine...but I waited nearly an hour to get the trigger shot. It was so packed...there was no where to sit and wait. People were getting their shots before me when I had been sitting and waiting for 45 mins....then there was the stress of my car being towed at 8AM if I wasn't back in time. Total factory. There was a line in the lobby of people waiting to check in when I left. I was looking for a sign to leave because I have not been crazy about Dr. Kang when I see her at the GC office. The weekend appt and billing situation pushed me over the edge. I feel like just a number and she wouldn't know my name if she didn't have my chart.

Do you mind me asking where you go now? I'm torn! Thanks very much.
