TDAP Vaccine
This is NOT meant to cause any at all, its genuine questioning
Can someone provide pros and cons of the TDAP?
I was offered it by my OB the other day and she told me to think about it. I was just immediately going to say yes, but DH has questions and wants to do research.
I get being cautious but I feel like this is one of the vaccines thats SUPER important.
Can you ladies tell me if you did it or didn't? And why? And when? I know they offer it in the 3rd trimester or you can get it in the hospital.
Also, did you DH get it?

TDAP Vaccine
I got it in the hospital after I delivered and I wish I has gotten it while pregnant. My OB's office would administer it but didn't carry it? It was very strange. Getting it while pregnant passes the antibodies onto the baby. Pertussis (whooping cough) in particular is deadly to babies.
Anyway, yes, DH and all grandparents got it as well.

Re: TDAP Vaccine
I got it at my last visit when I was 30.5 weeks. my DH will be getting it in the hospital when I deliver. I have also asked our parents and our siblings to get it.
I think its very important to get while pregnant so the baby can at least have some immunity passed on. whooping cough is bad news for babies, and there have been outbreaks of it in recent years. they cant get the first round of vaccines for it until 2 months.

TDAP Vaccine
Dd1 both me and dh got it in the hospital right after dd was born. That was the rec in 2013
Dd2 I got it in my third trimester and dh got a booster after dd was born.
No question in my mind not to get it. Pertussis is coming back now, bc people aren't vaccinating. In fact my neighbor had it when dd1 was born and couldn't come near her for weeks. Pertussis in a newborn can be fatal. If there's anything I can do to protect my child, I will. If you get it while pregnant the antibodies will pass to your baby in utero

Re: TDAP Vaccine
There were just several cases of whooping cough reported in my town. I got it with both of my pregnancies in the third trimester. I don't see any downsides to getting it.

Agreed- I got it at about 34 weeks, didn't think twice about it. DH got it right before I gave birth because he's a procrastinator. My sister got it as well as she plans to help watch her a lot. She was born happy and healthy.

TDAP Vaccine
I had pertussis 3 times as a young adult before I found out there was a booster and it was awful. Getting the vaccine while pregnant was a no brainer.
DH and my family got the booster while I was pregnant with my first so they were still protected when I was we pregnant with my second.

Re: TDAP Vaccine
Let me preface this by saying I am pro-vaccine and my kids are fully vaccinated.
And, I realize how serious whooping cough is. Both my husband and I got the TDAP in the hospital, after I gave birth to DC #1. Immunity was passed to the baby through my breastmilk.
That being said, pregnancy is such a critical and fragile time in development, and I would really do my research before injecting anything into my body. I agree with your husband, and I think it's a good thing that you held off so you can look into it more.
Please no flames, just my honest opinion.

I am in no way shape or form flaming you at all by saying this but I feel it's important to add this bit of info. The vaccine takes 2 weeks to be effective before the antibodies can be passed to baby, including through breast milk. When it's given during pregnancy, the antibodies will be present in breast milk immediately.

TDAP Vaccine
I asked my doctor and he said he doesn't believe in giving it to pregnant women. He's not convinced yet, along with some of his peers, that it does any good for the baby. So I didn't get the TDAP. I had pertussis as an adult, so I'm most likely immune anyway to it at this point.

My Dr also isn't convinced. Luckily for me, I have several more months to think about it since I am on the fence. I was only given it after delivery the last time.
