When did you stop swaddling?
Ds is 2.5 months old and had been wriggling his arms free when he's swaddled, even in the velcro swaddle sack, but then he wakes himself up bc his arms still flail around in his sleep. So I just keep reswaddling him, even though he seems to not like it, or will he get used to his arms being free soon?

When did you stop swaddling?
Early on for both. As soon as they would break free. It would disturb their sleep more trying to get free and then they were uncomfortable with their arm out in a weird position.

Also, you can Swaddle him with his arms out. That's worth a try.

Re: When did you stop swaddling?
We stopped swaddling arms around 3-3.5 mo when they started resisting it. We used the sleep sack where body gets swaddled.

Re: When did you stop swaddling?
I stopped swaddling when the babies started to roll -both kids around 3 months.
It's not a matter of your baby "getting used" to his arms being free. You swaddle to stifle the startle reflex, which all babies have very strong when they're born. Each baby is different, but most of the time the startle reflex decreases enough to stop swaddling sometime between 3-5 months. But once the baby starts to roll, it's too dangerous to swaddle.

When did you stop swaddling?
I believe it was around 3 months old for both of my DSs, and it was for the same reasons...break free from the swaddle

When did you stop swaddling?
Dd1 we stopped around one month. She transitioned easily.
Dd2 we swaddled longer but stopped after a few months. Then she had a horrible nap regression and I started again around 6 months all the way till she turned one. She really had a tough time kicking the startle reflex and never rolled in the crib until a few months after we finally stopped swaddling.

When did you stop swaddling?
DD was 4 months when she rolled from front to back. DS was 5 months. We stopped swaddling and tried the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit (which didn't work lol). Then we said forget it and let them loose.

When did you stop swaddling?
Probably around 3 months, but DD liked to be swaddled with her arms out from very early on. We then used the Merlin suit from about 3-7 months. I loved that thing!

When did you stop swaddling?
At around 3.5 months. Basically when DD started breaking free. We did gradually swaddle one arm than both arm out and now she sleeps in Halo sleepsacks at 6.5 months old.

Re: When did you stop swaddling?
Followed the advice of my original ped and he told me to swaddle till 5 months... He was the worst and we since switched, for a variety of reasons. Don't swaddle as long as I did.
Eta-- wanted to add that because my DS was swaddled so long, he didn't learn to soothe himself. We ultimately had a load of sleep issues. I know swaddling so long wasn't only to blame, but I believe it did play a roll.

Re: When did you stop swaddling?
Um...we haven't
She still gets swaddled in those halo velcro ones, arms out so she can roll. She sleeps better that way and will gladly swaddle her until she's 10 if it means she sleeps well!

When did you stop swaddling?
DD1 - 5 mos (we eventually used the Miracle Blanket). She needed it and it did not cause any subsequent sleep issues.
DD2 - less than a month

Re: When did you stop swaddling?
I never swaddled. I always feared that somehow my girls would find a way to roll over and wouldn't have their arms to push themselves up. Both my girls gave me long stretches of sleep from day 1, and sttn from 2 mos., so I guess they didn't need it.
