genetic testing
If you go to all about women, did you have the panorama? I had the panorama & everything came back normal but it doesn't test for as many diseases as counsyl. Did anyone have the counsyl done at this office? I wonder why they didn't offer it to me.

All About Women obgyn/ 35+year olds/ genetic testing
I just had it done yesterday at my doc. I would just give them a quick call to ask if there is an option for it.

I could be mistaken but I think they are entirely different tests. Panorama, like materniti 21, tests the fetus for chromosomal abnormalities like trisomy 13, 21 etc. Counsyl I though is offered to parents before conception to screen for inheritable disorders like Tay Sachs, etc. I could be wrong as I am a few years out.

The counsyl tests for like 100 different diseases. That seems to be so much better than the panorama. My friends got it early in preg & it also gave them the sex of the baby. I'll ask them if they offer it but I would assume it's standard especially since I am now advanced mat age.

This is completely right! Had both done a couple of weeks ago.

I hadn't heard of this. Just checked their website and it looked similar to MaterniT21 - trisomies, sex chromosomes, microdeletions. I looked at the "Informed Pregnancy Screen". What are the other things they test?

They check for all of the hereditary diseases listed here on their website

If you had the Panorama and everything was fine, then I probably wouldn't do any additional testing.

They are completely different tests. Panorama test the chromosomes of the fetus (i.e. checks for Downs, other Trisomies). Counsyl test for hereditary diseases such as cystic fiberosis that could be passed down to the child.
