Keri Russell Reveals She and Matthew Rhys Had a Baby Boy: Find Out His Name!
Drumroll, please! A little over a month after welcoming a child with Matthew Rhys, Keri Russell revealed the name and sex of their baby. The Felicity alum, 40, gushed over their newborn while promoting her new movie Free State of Jones during the Today show on Friday, July 1.
"You just had a baby about a month and a half ago. Am I correct in reading, Ms. Russell, that you have not yet revealed the gender of the baby or the baby's name?" Today cohost Matt Lauer asked the star.
"I mean, I guess not," Russell replied, smiling. "I mean, I don't know, where do you reveal that?"
Lauer, 58, teased that the actress could spill the beans during their interview, which she happily obliged.
"We had a boy — Sam," she said. "He's so good. He's big and fat and nice."
Us Weekly exclusively confirmed on May 30 that Russell and Rhys, 41, had welcomed their first child together. The couple met on the set of their FX show The Americans in 2013 and reside in NYC.
"Keri and Matt both look overjoyed and are over the moon to be new parents," a source told Us at the end of May. "They are always snapping pictures of the baby, and family and friends have been sending gifts."
A second insider previously noted: “Matthew is really in love [with Keri]. They feel they should have always been together.”
This is the first child for Rhys and the third for Russell. The actress is already mom to son River, 9, and daughter Willa, 4, with ex-husband Shane Deary. The pair finalized their divorce in 2013 after seven years of marriage. That same year, Russell opened up about motherhood to Parade magazine.
"You instantly become less selfish," she said. "You can't be the biggest person in the world anymore — they are. It really grounds you."
