How many hours do you work?

On average how many hours a week are you working and how far along are you?

The last two months or so I'm averaging 50 to 55 hrs a week. It seems like the hours may increase too in the next couple of weeks. I'm 23 weeks.

Re: How many hours do you work?

I worked 40- 45 hours a week up until I was about 7 months. It was torture! That's an insane amount to work not pregnant! Is there anyway you could cut back or possibly work from home part of the time?

ETA: For the last 2 months, I worked my normal 35-40 hours a week. Not for any medical reasons, my co-worker came back from leave of absence.

Re: How many hours do you work?

When I was pregnant with DD1 I worked a lot. at least 50-55 hours between my two programs. I told my supervisor I would keep that up until I hit my due month (which was August), but when I hit August, I still felt pretty good so I kept it up until about 38 weeks. I did a modified 35-40 hour week for 1 week and stopped working at 39w3d when I was too fat to drive. After backing up into a telephone pole I realized it was time to stop.
I really had no excuse because my car had one of those backup indicators where it beeps at you if you're too close. I totally missed that too. Chat Icon

This time around I have a flexible schedule, but I never work over 40 hours a week.

Omg hope you were ok. Sorry but I did laugh reading that. Just wondering at what point it's ok to cut back. I come home exhausted at night. I'm sticking with it for now but I feel at some point I'm going to have to tell her I can't keep working like this. There are a lot of times when I'm one of the last people left in the office at night.

I work 35 hours a week plus an additional 3 hours for my consulting business. I'll be working until I go into labor.

Always 40+ varies by week due to the nature of my business. I travel fairly frequently too. I'm 23 weeks and working hasn't really taking a toll physically, I don't do manual labor or anything . Mostly desk work / in person meetings.

Lol, I was fine, thanks for asking! I was slightly embarrassed though because it happened in the parking lot of an auto repair place. I had a nail in my tire and I was getting it plugged.

You'll work what you can and you'll get signs when it's time to make changes. Listen to your body. I had one day about 33ish weeks where I had to excuse myself from a mtg because I was sure I was going to pass out. I ran to the bathroom, stripped off my shirt, and laid down on the tile floor. I just needed to get out of the heat (it was one of those 90 degree days). The floor was so cold I immediately felt better.
I made sure to wear tank tops, light clothing ,and bring frozen water with me from then on.

How many hours do you work?

I'm required to work a minimum of 48 hours per week. I'm a store manager so I'm constantly on my feet. It sucks but it's what pays the bills. I worked until 39 weeks with my daughter and will work until the week before my section this time. Just so I can spend some one on one time with my little girl before the baby arrives. My daughter will only be 16 months when her brother is born.

Edit: I'm currently 20+4

How many hours do you work?

I'm 34 weeks and a NYC commuter with a desk-job. It has been surprising how much that has taken out of me. The sitting in cramped seats on the LIRR for hours + sitting in meetings all day is wearing me out and making me swell. I only went into the office two days this week and by the end of the second day I wanted to die. My sciatica was killing me and I basically just got home and crawled into bed. When I work from home I can pace, change positions, put my feet up, etc. I am going to be doing more and more of that as I head into the final weeks.

Re: How many hours do you work?

I'm currently only working part time as I am SAH with my two older kids.

With my first, I worked a full time 40 hour schedule up until the day I had him. I went into labor at work.

I wouldn't think it's a problem unless you have complications, are required to do manual labor, or can't take care of your basic needs like eating, drinking and taking breaks regularly due to your job.

Re: How many hours do you work?

40-45 hours per week. I had a 1.5 hour commute into NYC
each way but stopped going in at 35 weeks.

Just stopped working altogether this week at 38 weeks.

Re: How many hours do you work?

I worked 40 hours a week until literally the day I gave birth. I went into labor at work (39 weeks 4 days) and had my DS a few hours later. I'm a teacher so I was on my feet the entire day.
