Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
I want to scrapbook or create a memory box for DD. Has anyone done this? I am NOT crafty at all, so I need something idiot proof and easy. Suggestions? Also, please post pics of your boxes or scrapbooks if you can. TIA

I found this:
It seems complecated, but I think I am willing to try it. What do you all think?

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
I really wanted to try scrapbooking but it seems a little expensive and I wasn't sure how to lay everything out. I received 2 memory boxes as gifts so one I use now and put all the cards I have received, balloons from when I came home from the hospital birth cert. stuff from birth until his first year. The 2nd once I plan to use from his first birthday up until I fill it.

This does look complicated to me. I could never paint it myself. I have issues painting within the lines and my handwriting is bad!

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
You can buy a smaller size scrapbook and then do digital scrapbooking. You can get free stuff from any scrapbooking site and then just print it out and stick it in the book! Its a lot easier if you are really busy, b/c you can just save what you have done and go back and finish it....
I LOVE doing it! But I dont have any pics on my husbands computer....

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
Leaving Prints Scrapbook Company has great quick and easy page kits that you can do. It gives you everything you need and exact directions of how to make the page down to the exact size of the cuts you make. I had a party once and the consultant was great. Here name is Kristen Gates. I'm looking for her webpage so that if you want you can order from it. I love the pages I've made from the company. I made a full book using all of their products for my son back in 2003 when he was born. At the time I had no idea what to do. Now that I've used their products and became comfotable scrapping , I now make my own pages with my own designs. I'll fm you with her website when I track it down.

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
I bought a plain large hat box from michaels and a jar of Mod Podge - Then I cut all little cute pictures and words and what people wrote from her birth and christening cards, and decoupaged them onto the box. I also did this for my wedding and my 1st daugher. The box was round and large enough to hold a lot of momentos. I also like the scrapbook idea, but the box is easy to just throw things in I want to save when I don't have time to sit down and scrap book. Plus, I had a little box of stuff from when I was little, and as I got older I used to love to sit and sort through it.

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
I scrapbook but I wouldnt say I do anything special. I do pages of special events and buy letters and stickers. I buy them when they are on sale and it seems like now everyone carries some scrapbook stuff. So far I have done a page from her sonograms, the cruise I went on while pregnant, my shower, her birth, my dog and her, her first bath, and now I have to work on her first vacation. I saved ticket stubs and brochures to cut things out from. I also have two photo albums filled already with pictures and a shoebook filled with cards.

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
I would definitely go with a box over a scrapbook like someone else said it is easier to just throw stuff in there

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
Would any of you be interested in having a Mommy only scrapbook get together? No babies, something at night after DH's come home from work or on a weekend afternoon. We can meet up somewhere (does anyone have the room) and all bring our pictures, supplies and anything we've made already. We can share ideas, cutting tools, materials and just help eachother overall??
I could use a night out without the baby and scrapbooking is really easy once you sit down to do it. I just never sit down to do it since I'm always with the baby! It would be an excuse to get out of the house!

I think I am leaning towards that. I am going to get that box at Michaels today. I will post the finished product (even if it is horrible ) when I am done with it. May the crafty god's be with me.

I would love to learn how to do this and go to the G2G, but I am too far away and Dh comes home at 7:30PM.

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
Another idea is that I was planning on buying an unfinished wooden box from AC Moore or Michael's and painting to match the other painted items I've made in her room, and was going to put things like her birth announcement, special cards she's recieved, her baptism candle, invitations to her parties, etc. in there. I was even thinking of decopaging pics of her on the inside of it.

Re: Memory boxes or Scrapbooks?
I scrapbook, but I'm not an expert. It's something I enjoy doing. It's very time comsuming and can be very $$$. I'll post some of my pics later tonight. I also made one throughout my pregnancy. I like the idea of them being displayed in a scrapbbok rather than a bunch of photo albums.
The box is cute, it would be less time consuming. Let us know how it turns out!

I'd be interested. But, DH works late. It would depend on the day/time.
