Re: what week can gender be determined?

I had the NIPT blood test Verifi drawn at 11 weeks. We got the results including gender back two weeks later.

There are some people who claim by 12 to 13 weeks you can determine gender from the angle of the genital nub on a sonogram. But I dont know how accurate that is. I wouldn't trust the sono tech's guess until 16+ weeks.

What is the NIPT blood test? Does that go with the Ultrascreen? What else does this blood test check for and wow, it can really determine sex?

It stands for non invasive prenatal testing. It is different from the ultrascreen. It can be done around ten weeks on (I think). It tested for three aneuploidies including Down's syndrome, and yes the sex. For us, it said girl and the 20 week sonogram also said girl.

Yeah I had a NIPT test done called Panorama. Had it done at 10 weeks. If you have/had complications, are over 35(I think), and a few other factors you will have it covered by insurance. Ask at your next appt

Yeah, at 30, I wasn't covered by my insurance so didn't have this testing done. I had to wait until 20 weeks for the anatomy scan to find out.

My sister had the blood test done at 12w. If my insurance covers it we might do it, DH wants to find out and do a gender reveal.

Re: what week can gender be determined?

My SIL is having the blood test done at 10 weeks. Her insurance isn't covering it but the doctor's office told her she wouldn't be charged more than like $150.

We didnt have the blood test because our insurance wouldnt cover it and it was going to cost us way too much out of pocket, so we waited until we had an ultrasound at 17 weeks. We had several ultrasounds before that one but they wouldnt even venture a guess any earlier than 17 weeks.

Re: what week can gender be determined?

I have heard a few people mention having a blood test done at 10w. I had the MaterniT21 test done both times. I was told I could have it as early as 11w. It takes about 10-14 days to get the results from the blood test so you're looking at about 13 weeks the earliest. Gender sonograms aren't typically done before 15 weeks where I live and even those aren't full proof.
