If your company asks you to move out of state
I have been asked to move out of state if my company wins a large project that we are currently bidding on. I told them I would consider it. We've had several employees move to other out of state offices in the past so they are not new to this. They seem to be offering me a lot of help (i.e. pay brokers fee to sell house, pay for movers, etc). I believe they plan to sit down with me next week and discuss the details. What are some other costs I should consider and mention to them at this upcoming meeting? It can't hurt to be prepared and ask!

I would speak to an employment lawyer and have them work out a nice contract/package that pays you a very large severance if they decide to get rid of you for any reason.

If your company asks you to move out of state
I know the company I used to work for would buy your current house if it didn't sell in a certain amount of time since most people need that money to buy the new one.

Re: If your company asks you to move out of state
a friend's friend just worked out a sweet deal. She had them pay for private school for her children since their current public school was highly ranked in the state. She told them her husband works, so they contacted his employer and somehow worked out a deal where he could work from their new location 3 days a week for the same pay. They are paying for all of the moving expenses, but are also going to move her family out there b/c she's close with them and doesn't want her kids living without them.
It is a higher up position, so I'm sure it is not the norm, but I''m surprised by how much she was able to get. I'm glad she was able to leverage herself to get so many things for her family.
