I got a job! fingerprinting question
Hi! So I got a job in Queens. I went to court street on Friday to get my I9 verified. I didn't do fingerprinting because I already did it through the State years ago. I am a bit concerned about getting clearance to work though. I just spent 45 min on the phone with HR connect to hear that I might have been better off getting my fingerprints done again rather than submitting the OSPRA form and waiting for clearance from NYSED. Anyone have any input?

I got a job! fingerprinting question
I've been fingerprinted like 3 separate times in NYS through different avenues. They don't all communicate to each other I've learned.
Did you get fingerprinted to get your cert? Do you have your certs already? If so I believe the DOE should accept those fingerprints.
I wish I could be of more help but when I went through this with the DOE 2 years ago I told them to figure out which fingerprints of mine they needed because they were filed 3 times through different levels because I was not getting fingerprinted a 4th time. It all worked out on my end.

I got fingerprinted when I had to do my student teaching back in 2011.

Was it for the state?then it should be fine. Remember it's still over a month until school starts. Fill out the OSPRA form, call the state. I don't think you should need to get them re-done.

Re: I got a job! fingerprinting question
When you became certified by NYS you had to pass a fingerprint check. You said you had them done for student teaching. It wasn't in NYC was it?
If not the "by the book answer" is to submit the OSPRA 103 to the city http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tsei/pdf/ospra103.pdf DOE teachers get hired right up unti the start of school so it should be fine. If you are really anxious about it and don't mind paying the fee, then you can get fingerprinted at Court St to feel better...
