Another DOE question
I got an email telling me that I have to log into the payroll portal to apply for my steps etc. Whenever I log in and go to the self-serv area of the site, it tells me "your session has expired". But I JUST logged in.
Also, how do I sign up for health benefits etc? I have gotten ZERO information. Are these payroll secretary questions? Or am I missing something?
Thanks!

Another DOE question
So payroll portal only works on like Internet explorer 8 or some crap like that on a Windows machine.
On a Mac it works fine for me on chrome.
Maybe others can chime in here.
I think some things are on NYCAPS but you have to wait for the school year to start to log in to that.
Payroll sec can process your health benefits. It's retro to the day you start even if you don't have your card. I had to go to the hospital the first weekend of school my first year and when I got the bills I just updated them with my insurance and all was taken care of.

Re: Another DOE question
I use payroll portal in Chrome. Maybe that has something to do with it. Health benefits you can sign up with your payroll secretary for that.

Re: Another DOE question
How do I know which salary diff to apply for??? There are too many choices. I have a Masters degree with no additional credits. They have my masters listed... but I do not remember sending them transcripts.
This is very confusing and overwhelming.
BTW, I got on through internet explorer... go figure lol

Another DOE question
The one that says MA C2+ PD. You have to send in your transcripts. They won't process it without it. I walked them in to 65 Court.

Thanks... I am NOT going to Court Street... refuse to deal with that place again. I am having them sent certified mail directly from my school.

Re: Another DOE question
I applied for my steps and salary diff and both say "pending".
Is there anything else I need to do now? Besides send my transcripts? How long till I know what step and how much money I am making? It would be nice to know

You got a retro check right?????
I just have NO IDEA how much money I am making.... do they start you at like step 1 with just a bachelors? Am I reading the chart right? its around 53 to start at that level? Should I expect to start there and then get a retro check?
Trying to pre-plan my budget.
I will get a check on 9/16 correct? Probably for only one week though?
SOrry for all the questions... can't seem to get anyone on the phone from HR connect

Another DOE question
Don't bother with HR connect this time of the year. Lol
Yeah I got a fat retro check.
You'll start at 51k unless they approve your differential before 9/1. Then you'll start at 58k unless you're adding teaching experience and they accept it.
You'll get a full check on 9/16 I believe.

Anytime. Especially when it comes to money. Like don't mess with my money I'm always on top of that. Lol
Plus ever since college I feel like the people who should know how to process things didn't so I always do heavy research. I would always go to "advisement" and be like you're going to register me for these courses and no don't ask me if I'm sure or am I considering something else. Just register me!!!

Yeah, I got the recording and my "estimated wait time" was over 2 hours
It would be nice to know for sure though how much I will be making and how many steps they are giving me. I am hoping once I get in there in 2 weeks for orientation that I can speak with the payroll secretary and get some questions answered.
51K isn't bad to start though and a retro check will be DELIGHTFUL
ONE MORE question then I will leave you alone... how much do your contribute towards your health benefits? NO ONE has told me anything about this and its stressing me out.
Thanks again

Re: Another DOE question
So as long as you choose HIP or GHI it's free.
HR Connect can't help you with the salary step. It'll be posted within the payroll portal, once they check out your experience they credit it that part is a quick turnaround usually within 2 weeks. Your payroll secretary wouldn't know how much you should get paid, just how much you currently get paid.
