How early should I start looking into daycare? I plan to go back to work 6 to 8 weeks after baby is born. I'm 7 months and someone told me I should have started already.

Re: Daycare

Now. I started right after she was born in April... I JUST got a spot for September.

I did find an immediately available spot at an in-home daycare, but they rubbed me the wrong way and I was fortunate enough to have family pitch in and watch her for the summer. So she's starting in daycare after labor day.

Sooner the better. Some more popular or smaller places book up quickly.

Re: Daycare

Now. My daughter is due in November and we just registered her for Tutor Time starting in January (she'll be between 8 - 10 weeks old). When I called around to various daycares they were already booking up. The problem is that each daycare is only allowed a certain number of infants in their care at a time, so they only offer a certain number of open slots. Once those fill up, you're SOL.

Re: Daycare

I went in March. She was born late June and started daycare in mid August.

Definitely ASAP, especially since school is starting in a few weeks and teachers are going back to work.

Thanks everyone. I called three today that are really close to home. One is actually having an open house tomorrow morning so we are going to stop in to get a tour. One of them told us to contact them mid September because the new classes will be in session and we can get a better feel of a typical day.
