Urine test before glucose
I don't remember if I had a urine test before the glucose test when I was pregnant with DD, but when I showed up today for my glucose test they asked for a urine. Turned out, I failed the urine test so they wouldn't even let me do the glucose test. I was told I would hear from my doctor tomorrow with instructions for going forward. Anyone else experience this?

Urine test before glucose
No, only blood for my prior two. I still need to go for this time, but my script is only for bloodwork. I thought if you had sugar in your urine, it's a reason to send you for a glucose test. I'm guessing they'll send you for the 3 hour...

Re: Urine test before glucose
You failed with what in your urine, glucose? I never had a urine test first, only blood after the drink...and I did the glucose test 3 times.

I only did it once, but no urine test. I mean, they still asked me to pee, but just because that was standard practice for all my OB appointments. As far as I know they didn't do any additional testing that would affect the glucose test. Besides, they had me drink the drink before I came in. So I got there about 15 minutes before the hour was up and they needed to draw blood.

Urine test before glucose
In 3 glucose tests, I've never had urine tested. That's a new one.

No, I never had a urine glucose test that I am aware of. I'm having the 1 hr blood glucose test on Monday, so we'll see. What did your doctor say?

Momma2015, who is your OB? I would live an OB that does these kind of things in office. Maybe for next time...

Urine test before glucose
I just had mine done recently. They asked for urine first as standard protocol. I told them i couldnt go bc I hadnt drank anything but that glucose drink in 2 hours. She said it was fine to skip the urine that day.

My OB was Dr. Park at Midtown OBGYN in the city, but she just moved to CA! I was sad to see her go! I'll probably stick with the practice though since they were ALL there at my DD's birth.

Re: Urine test before glucose
Thanks all. I did call the office today and spoke to a nurse. At my last visit my sugar level from my urine sample was 3 which is much higher than normal level. The repeat urine was to check the sugar level and if it was still high they were supposed to do a finger prick blood sugar test. If that was normal I was supposed to be able to do the 1 hour. If not, I would have been put on the GD diet and the 1 hour test would be repeated in 3 weeks.

Sorry to veer off topic but my OB also has me drink the drink at home, then come in to the office for the blood draw. I go to Northshore OBGYN Associates in Great Neck (Dr. Klein, Dr. Gilbert, Dr Rubin, Dr. Sternchose...that practice.)
