The one thing I still don't understand though is why they didnt do a csection on Mandy Moore's character. Even in the 80's it wouldnt have been uncommon for multiples. Did they end up explaining this at all and maybe I missed it?
I don't recall them explaining it. But they will cover it in a future episode.

Loved the first episode. I laughed and cried. I also found it strange the twins were so close and no mention of their brother. But I liked how they tied it in when he went to his girls room there was a poster on the wall from his show that was signed to my favorite nieces, love uncle Kevin.
I missed this!

Thanks for bumping!
I loved, loved LOVED it. I thought the whole thing was really well done. The ending was a total surprise to me and it made me love the show more.
Also- they showed a family photo at the sisters house of the 3 triplets together.

This bothered me too. C-sections were not uncommon in the 80's. The other thing I don't understand is how the triplets were 7 during the challenger explosion.

I didn't read this thread until now because I didn't have the time to watch. So glad I waited bc I would have ruined it for myself!
I absolutely loved it!!! At first I thought it was 3 different stories of people who just turned 36. (Which is sorta is) Then as soon as that fireman lit a cigarette, I thought WAIT... and was like holy crap!! Hahahahaha then they showed the others in the waiting room dressed in old styles, etc.
I thought it was fantastic! Immediately set my DVR for next week.

Didn't they do the c-section after the first baby was born? He kicked the father out and said he had to go in and get the other two. I'm not sure what else he would have meant by that. Plus he knew Mandy Moore would be asleep for a while - knocked out by the drugs?

They did do a c-section for the other two babies because the mother was in distress.

Yes, it is supposed to be 79/80 which would make them 7.
As for the c-section they weren't as common even for multiples as they are now. My brother was born in that time and my mother had 1 sonogram with him. She didn't have any with the rest of us, it was never an option and for him it was just once and pretty early on.
So even though they referred to it as a high risk pregnancy, if the parents didn't want it the doctors would have never pushed it on them.

I was so excited to see the parents as older and was not expecting the latest twist. Kind of makes me sad but obviously there's a reason for it that is yet to be explained.

I was also happy to see in coming attractions that the dr is back!

The fact that the kids called him grandpa makes me also think the father passed away awhile ago, that the girls see him as grandpa. But Randall made sure to refer to him by name and not "dad" so think he might've died when the kids were older but before the girls were born.
