I think if you are sitting with her and its a HW assignment, yes. If during the debate things go crazy you can turn the channel or explain to her what is going on.

Re: Debate tonight
I don't know, for what I've read it can get pretty intense tonight. DS is 10 and we explained briefly what happened (T getting caught on a video saying very rude and inappropriate things), but the debate will get very explicit.
I would explain to her before the debate in a very general way, and be ready to hit the pause button many times.

Debate tonight
Can you DVR it and have her watch it tomorrow? That way you can screen it first? Is her school closed for Columbus Day tomorrow?

Dont have DVR but they are home tomorrow. I have no issue emailing the teacher and telling her given the topics that came up this weekend (and now trump has invited clintons accusers) i do not want DD watching.

I think that's a good plan. I'm sure, worse comes to worse, tomorrow you can find clips online that are appropriate for her to watch.

Debate tonight
No, I don't think I'd want a 10 year old watching.

Re: Debate tonight
I am not having my nine year old watch it. I think twelve is age appropriate based upon this past weekends events. Omg I love the first woman who spoke.

I feel like neither of them answered the first question at all.

Debate tonight
It's like watching Maury or Jenny jones but bordering on Jerry Springer. It's a flucking train wreck.
Sniff sniff.

You're right.
But my question was regarding the 1st question of the night.
They seem to be getting back on track.

Debate tonight
Teachers need to stop assigning these debates as homework. It's just not suitable for 10 year olds to even watch IMO!
In fact, I would have zero problem telling the teacher that my child wouldn't be participating, and I would gladly accept the zero.

Re: Debate tonight
yes. He presented "well" with no substance (IMO). His surrogates will say he won. He may have- as he was on attack tonight- sort of played it the best way he can. He still has a huge uphill battle to convince everybody that he does not think women are objects. He also has to pray that the Apprentice footage does not get released. The gift that would keep on giving... His party still will not know what to do with him tomorrow too. Those that disavowed and say they are not voting for him, can't just turn around tomorrow and say "all's fine" since he was "strong" with this debate. Still one more conventional debate left- not his strong suit (in format). He needs more substance for those than he seems equipped with.

I think so too- at least with younger kids. My 9 year old wanted to see the first one and lasted 40 minutes but they run late for anyone under HS age IMO.
But I think it's important to point out that teachers assigned this way before all hell broke loose Friday- before we thought we'd hear the phrase 'sexual assualt' used in reference to a Presidential candidate. Another first I hope is never repeated.
