Bc pills and hair loss
I started taking ortho tri lo about 8 months ago ofcourse insurance would only cover generic. I took brand name before I had children for well over 10 years with no major issues. I had many annoying side effects in the beginning that I was trying to ride out. For the most part it's been bearable but for the last couple of weeks me hair has been falling out in clumps. Piles of hair after I blow dry are in the floor. I can see my scalp in the front of my hair.I don't even want to wash my hair because it's so stressful. I did some research and this seems to be a common problem and it is listed as a side effect on the pills.I have about a week left of this pill pack and I'm stopping them ASAP. I'm taking every supplement that I think would help. Has anyone experienceed this? Will it stop once I stop these pills?is there anything else I can do?

Re: Bc pills and hair loss
I never lost my hair from BCP but I did start losing clumps of hair from my thyroid.
I'd call the dr before just stopping your pills and see if they can run some tests to see what's going on

Re: Bc pills and hair loss
I'm a little confused, are you on Ortho Tri Lo or the generic version of it ? Maybe you just need a different pill.
I was on a generic version of Ortho a few years ago and had to stop it because of side effects that I did not have with real Ortho. The generic got pulled from the market anyway.

I'm on the generic.. I asked for ortho lo but was given this crappy generic unfortunately. So many side effects I should have stopped it months ago. I'm just hoping no permanent damage is done to my hair. I have such anxiety about it I don't want to try any other pills. I'm pretty positive that the pill is the cause especially after researching it, but I do plan on having my thyroid tested too.
