Ladies like me who make the ultimate fashion faux pas and wear pantyhose
Which brand do you wear?
I am looking for sheer to the point it looks like I'm wearing nothing, som with decent control top and something that doesn't rip in one wearing.
I have been wearing L'eggs Silken Mist and they are just awful. They are pretty much disposable. They rip and tear and get big holes in them on the first wear.
Any good brands that look super sheer but are a bit more durable?

I wear their Pretty Polly oil sheen ones that are pretty much a knockoff of the more expensive Wolford ones Kate Middleton supposedly wears. I get a few wears out of them but I think when they're so sheer that you barely notice them they're just never going to be as durable.

Yes true. I am not looking for them to last 6 months or anything but lately with the ones I wear, it is a GUARANTEE that they will rip seconds after putting them on. Thankfully yesterday it ripped up high and didn't' run- so it was covered by my dress- but having to throw them out after one day is getting ridiculous

I actually just picked up some from DressBarn that were very sheer and really soft and probably the most comfortable one I've ever worn.

Give these a shot. I'd say I get a season out of them before they rip. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007JTJMC2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wow that's awesome. Question- they say tights- they are not tights though right? And what does the oil sheen mean? Are they shiny?

No they're really pantyhose. They aren't shiny but have a slight sheen to them and look more like your skin than matte ones.

Re: Ladies like me who make the ultimate fashion faux pas and wear pantyhose
Thanks they seem awesome. But Amazon doesn't have my size in the Barely There color. I looked up a size chart and I'd need M/L since I'm 5 9
I can get them from the Pretty Polly site for $15

Re: Ladies like me who make the ultimate fashion faux pas and wear pantyhose
Hanes Silk Reflections are my go to for pantyhose and knee highs. Have been for years and years ever since I worked in the industry in the late 80's/early 90's.
The Barely There color is the one that looks the most natural, Little Color is a bit darker.
I don't think wearing hose is a fashion faux pas. Hose give a more finished appearance than a bare leg can. Only faux pas is wearing with sandals, open toed shoes, or G-d forbid, wearing white ones unless a uniform requires it.

I spent a year after college working in A&S, selling hosiery. We used to get lots of free pairs from vendors. I was always a fan of Silk Reflections and felt they held up well. They also have a nice range of neutral colors.

I worked for Falke here in the States in the early 90's, before they closed their sales office.
Hanes Silk Reflections hold up well. I can get a couple of wearings out of them. But on occasion I get a pair that will run the first time wearing them.
I've worn Berkshire and found them to be scratchy.
I don't wear control top hose, I don't like how tight they are to pull on and imo, if you pull too hard to get them on, encourage a run to form.

I saw the commando but they were $30 a pair? I'd kill myself if a $30 pair of hose ripped!

Re: Ladies like me who make the ultimate fashion faux pas and wear pantyhose
I wear Leggs Shear Energy. They are more durable than the Silken Mist but just as sheer in my opinion. The control top is awesome too.
I usually get a minimum of 4 wears out of them. I try and buy them in bulk in Walmart where they are the cheapest or when CVS sends me big coupons.

I recently read you should wet them and freeze them, then air dry before wearing. Sounds a little crazy to me, but has anyone tried it?

Omg you have to try these... the quality is impeccable and they come in 4000000 skin tones. Sheer to waist also if you don't want control top.

Re: Ladies like me who make the ultimate fashion faux pas and wear pantyhose
I am a recent convert to pantyhose. I used to think they were so grannyish but now I'm hooked.
I love Hanes silk reflections barely there, barely black and jet. You can get a few wears out of them.

Re: Ladies like me who make the ultimate fashion faux pas and wear pantyhose
What color for the Leggs Sheer energy is the most natural for light skin?
I've worn Hanes in either Barely There and Little Color. What is the Leggs equivalent color?
