Because LIW is dead...
Anyone have advice / info for a couple on a tight budget?
My BILs little sister just got engaged and they will be paying for everything themselves. Live in Staten Island. Want to be married on SI but willing to go to central NJ for better $$
I started some research but can't find what I'm looking for. Not sure it exists.
There are venues here in LI that have had those all inclusive packages, or special pkgs for off season. Do they exist anywhere else???
TIA
Edited to fix some obvious mistakes The iPhone was invented to make a fool out of me every time I type something

Because LIW is dead...
Got married and bought a house in Staten Island 2 years ago. We had our reception at Chateau Briand but looked at every catering hall in Staten Island 2 years ago and a couple again recently for our son's baptism. Halls here compared to LI are very expensive. I would recommend having the wedding on an off day..a brunch..upscale restaurant etc.

The halls on SI are pricy and, in my opinion, not particularly impressive. They'll do much better in NJ or LI. (I live on SI and we had our reception on LI).
ETA: We looked at The Tides in NJ and it was very reasonable, but not the style we were looking for.

Do January February or March. They are off months. I was able to get a hall that charges $150pp peak for $75pp in march.

The cottage at East Wind has a whole flat package. Not exactly near SI but something that definitely could be budget friendly not to mention beautiful.

Re: Because LIW is dead...
My advice is to pick a date not too far in the future. Halls and vendors are willing to lower the price by a lot if you're planning only 4 or 5 months out. I guess they realize if the date isn't already booked, they probably aren't going to book it. I helped my cousin plan her wedding in 4 months. Spent under 20k for a Saturday night wedding in Suffolk county with upgrades and amazing entertainment. You should have seen the deals all these halls were offering if she picked a date only 3 months away (but she didn't want it too rushed).

I recently went to a NJ wedding at the manor in west orange. It was great and if I remember correctly the bride was working with a tight budget.

Re: Because LIW is dead...
if they plan a wedding in 3 months like i did vs 1 yr like everyone else, they will save A LOT. yuo have to play their game...
go in and ask for pricing for spring/summer/fall 2017... get that pricing then ask if there are any dates that will be less expensive. thhhhhen see if any dates are available SOON that they want to book up. the savings are HUGE. act like youre doing them a favor by picking a date so soon vs having a year to plan. Also negotiate the fk out of it.

This. DH and I planned our wedding in under 8 weeks and got an amazing deal. He found out he was transferring to Ireland for work and we wanted to get married before we left.
