Canned veggies

I very rarely use canned veggies. I do have one recipe that I use canned asparagus in that I'm making for Thanksgiving. My SIL was appalled that I was planning to use canned anything. Am I missing something here? Obviously fresh veggies are better but are canned THAT bad?

Canned asparagus are very mushy. I loved them as a kid but now I'd skip them. I grew up on a lot of canned veggies but the only ones I like now are corn and of course tomatoes. Everything else I prefer fresh or frozen.

It's with 10 other ingredients- it's not like I'm dumping the can into a bowl and microwaving it.

ETA: I meant are there health issues related to occasional use of canned foods that I'm unaware of? I agree that canned asparagus alone would be gross!

Re: Canned veggies

If the recipe calls for it, it will be fine.
Tell your SIL to STFU and stay out of it. And if she doesn't like it, don't eat it. #problemsolved

You aren't going to die or get cancer from eating canned veges once on Thanksgiving. Please. People need to get a fuking grip.
