Naya Rivera Files for Divorce From Husband Ryan Dorsey After Two Years of Marriage
It’s over. Naya Rivera has filed for divorce from her husband, Ryan Dorsey, Us Weekly can confirm.
The Los Angeles County Court confirms to Us the Glee actress filed divorce documents on November 15 and is seeking primary physical custody of their 14-month-old son, Josey, with visitation rights for Dorsey.
Rivera and Dorsey tied the knot in July 2014, on the same date she had saved for her wedding to ex-fiancé Big Sean. As previously reported, Rivera married Dorsey just three months after splitting from the rapper in April 2014. The date also marked Dorsey’s birthday. They welcomed Josey in September 2015.
"After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage," the couple told Us in a joint statement on Monday, November 21. "Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together. We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time."
“Naya didn’t tell most of her friends that she was marrying Ryan Dorsey, let alone that she was dating him!” a source told Us at the time of their discreet nuptials. “The whole thing is a complete surprise.”
In her new book, Sorry Not Sorry, Rivera alleged that Big Sean cheated on her with his now ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande.
“I learned that I was no longer getting married from the internet, and at the same time as the rest of the world," Rivera shared in her memoir, recalling how Big Sean’s publicist issued a statement that they had split at the time. "Not only were we no longer getting married, but apparently we weren’t even together anymore.”
