When to stop Progesterone Supps?
Has anyone been on them longer than 12 weeks? After having a 3 day break (due to a prescription incident), I ended up in the hospital with bleeding at 11w2d. Both the ER and my doctor swear up and down the bleeding has nothing to do with the stopping the supps, but I'm having a hard time believing that. My doctor wants me to begin weaning off this week and stopping completely by next week.
Is there any harm in taking them until I run out? I'll be 16 weeks at that point.

I don't believe that either. I stopped at 14 weeks. They say by 12-13 weeks the placenta takes over so there's no need for supps at that point. I don't see how they could possibly cause any harm.

I was on progesterone until 10w. There is no benefit to it after the placenta takes over which happens around week 10. I do however have a friend who experienced bleeding when she finished her progesterone.

When to stop Progesterone Supps?
I was on progesterone in oil for just over 10 weeks, and I had bleeding both while still on it and after stopping and had to go to the ER. For me, the bleeding was due to a subchorionic hematoma though.

Placenta takes over around 10 weeks, and definitely by 12. I've never heard of anyone staying on p longer than 12 weeks.

When to stop Progesterone Supps?
I weaned slowly, stopping fully around 14 weeks. I have read of some cases where people thought they needed it longer. Sorry I don't have any links.
No idea about side effects. Before I went on it, my nurse said there was no harm, but then I read about some possible side effects in the info that came in the package (can't remember what it was).

My clinic wanted me to stop abruptly by 12 weeks. I weaned myself gradually by 13+ weeks. There can be negatives I think if you continue when you do not need to. Placenta should be fully functioning by 12 weeks the latest.

i just had my first sono at 7 weeks and my RE told me to continue the Progesterone sup till 14 weeks
