Anterior Placenta
At my 12 week appointment this morning I found out I have an anterior placenta. I'm bummed because the dr told me it might make it more difficult to feel the baby move. Anyone have any experience? Did you still feel kicks and jabs?

Re: Anterior Placenta
I had it and I barely felt her. I mean towards the end I felt a kick or a movement here or there but it was only a few times. I never felt consistent movement, never saw my belly move, DH could never feel her from the outside.
I would get sonos and the tech would say- wow that was some kick jsut now and i'd be like, what kick?
It didn't bother me though because to be honest, feeling movement inside of me freaked me out a bit. I really wasn't comfortable with the whole being pregnant experience so not feeling movement was a-ok with me!
However, I know many others who had anterior placenta and felt a lot more than i did.
So it really depends on the person

Ahh man, that's a bummer to hear. My last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and I'm a nervous wreck this time around, so I know feeling kicks and movement would help me feel more confident that all is going well. I hope it shifts or this baby is just a strong kicker!!!

Awww! Yeah I wouldn't worry yet. I know plenty of ladies on here had it and felt so much more than I did. I always say I had a placenta made of shock absorbing material. LOL

Re: Anterior Placenta
At my 14 week sono I was told my placenta was "anterior." However, I felt my lil' man's first movement at 19 weeks 6 days. (Never the flutters/butterflies some women speak of. More like delicate jabbing...apparently I'm carrying a hitchhiker!)
The following week the sensations became daily occurrences at night and in the morning when lying down in bed or while stretched out on a couch. Especially when switching positions. Always down low and to the left. That said, my 20-week anatomy scan report indicated my placenta was "anterior fundal," meaning close to my belly, but also slightly above. (So I'm not sure if it shifted or if it was always partially anterior.)
Now at 24 weeks I feel LOTS of daily movement, even when sitting down. Plus mild movement in other areas of my tummy. Better yet, baby's daddy, with patience, has been able to feel his movements too if he keeps his hand on my belly long enough during an active spurt.
P.S. I endured a sad, everlasting missed miscarriage earlier this year, so know how you feel. Hang in there!!! And congratulations!

Re: Anterior Placenta
I had one with my DD and didn't feel her a whole lot the entire pregnancy. I was a little nervous about not really being able to feel her, but I got used to it. She was moving a lot during sonos and hearing the heartbeat at regular appointments was helpful.
Hopefully, you'll be able to feel the baby more than expected, but if you don't, just know that they are fine in there!

Re: Anterior Placenta
I had anterior placenta with my son and felt him a lot starting at 21 weeks and could see movement externally as well. In fact I felt him almost as much as my DD who had a posterior placenta. Just a few weeks later (but also he was my first and usually you feel your first later then your second)

Anterior Placenta
I had one and i still felt the baby, but not as early as others would. Don't worry, you'll still feel him/her!

This! You will definitely still feel the baby. The biggest thing for me was that you couldn't feel the baby from the outside until later, but I was still able to feel her moving inside from about 19 weeks on.

Re: Anterior Placenta
I had it. I didn't really feel kicks until around 21 weeks but I felt her consistently after that. She was a kicker!
ETA: DH was able to feel her from the outside and you could see my belly move from the outside as well. I wouldn't worry!

Anterior Placenta
I had one and didn't feel DS until 23-24 weeks. I felt him a little here and there during my pregnancy, but not that much. It was a good thing I think since there were never any midnight dance parties that kept me up!!
ETA: DH could feel him from the outside.

Re: Anterior Placenta
I also had it and had a very hard time early feeling kicks. I would get flutters felt on the inside, but that hard kicks took a long time to feel. It was in my 2nd pregnancy so I knew what to expect so I was nervous at first.

Re: Anterior Placenta
I'm carrying twins and one has an anterior placenta. I started feeling them around 19+, though nothing from the outside, just little bumps and pokes from the inside. We'll see if DH can feel from the outside as things progress.
