Asking for my SIL- Down Syndrome Risk

Good Morning everyone!

My SIL had a bunch of screening tests done and all came back with HIGH risks for DS. She stated that the baby's measurements at the NST appt were normal however they detected a hole in his heart.

So far they did the MaternT21, quad and a NIPT tests. Supposedly the NIPT test is a super sensitive test that can detect down syndrome. they gave them a 90% likelihood that the baby has downs. the only test left to do is the amnio and they are not doing that.

Is it possible to have normal measurements and still have a high likelihood for downs based on the all the blood work coming back with the dx?

TIA!

I don't know specifically about the accuracy of the MaternT21 and the other blood tests for downs. But I just wanted to share that my cousin's daughter has downsyndrome. The mother is young, and was considered low risk. None of the testing for measurements indicated anything and they did not know the baby had downs until she was born. That being said, the baby is now 3, doing really well and is just absolutely adored by the whole family.

Thank you all for your responses!

I am happy to hear that your niece is doing well Chat Icon

Their measurements came back fine. the mom is 33 going on 34. and the genetic testing came back with those results. The only sure fire way to know before birth is to do the amino and they have decided against it.
