Sadly, this type of activity is unlikely to stop. Trump supporters have taken upon themselves to engage in anti-Semetic behaviior and have targeted a # of JCCs with bomb threats - they do not care about facts, they do not care that Trump could tweet tomorrow to just "stop it" - it is open season on outward acts of violence based on race & religion because his supporters think they don't have to be "politically correct" and can just act like animals because they feel Trump is ok w/ that behavior. Sorry.

And you know this was done by Trump supporters how…??

She didn't say that.

Trump has emboldened the anti-semites in this country. If you think he didn't, you are completely blind.

Ding ding ding.

When we learned about the Holocaust, we were taught, "never again." In that spirit, I want to call out ANYONE who does not recognize that this recent spate of threats and antisemetic attacks have been centered on JEWISH people, schools, and now (gulp) children.

Please make no mistake. Please don't whitewash this or say it's business as usual or what we see spread out over society regularly.

This is NOT, as the OP said, normal. It is not OK, and history should teach us to be sensitive and vigilant, not to dismiss voices that speak up and show outrage, fear, and concern like the OP did.

It's certainly not okay that this is happening and it's not okay that it doesn't even seem to be in the news. This is the first I've heard of any of these recent threats.

To the OP, I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this.

Unfortunately, I don't know if this is really a result of today's political climate.

I work at a Jewish school, and way, way before this election we had multiple instances of anti-semitism (and we've only been at this location for 5 years).. swasticas, destruction of a sukkah, etc.

Eta: That doesn't make this situation any less scary in the least. I'm sorry you've had to deal with this today.

Thirty bomb threats in one week.

There is literally no doubt that it's because of today's political climate.

I happened to leave for Munich the day after the election.

The morning I arrived I went to Dachau.

I stood there and looked the memorial that says "Never Again" in several languages, with tears streaming down my face. I thought about what had just happened. I thought about the future. I thought about the fact that progress is not linear, and I walked away praying that the shit that I thought would happen would not happen.

And here we are.

This is an absolute asinine thing to say. It's like saying violent BLM behavior is Obama's fault. Do you hear how ridiculous you sound?

Bomb threats happen. It's scary. I can't say whose fault it is- we will never know but ignorance will always occur- no matter who the President is. I hope for a day where there is no bombings in the world. I mean, hey. It happens in Israel daily. Is that Trump's fault too?

And, while I do not always agree with your posts, OP- I hope your son is ok. That is truthfully scary.

Yes, this is true. I worked in a predominately Jewish school- Jericho about 20 years ago and this happened then. Unfortunately, this will happen. It is a sad reality. :(

This is not about scapegoating any president to make something someone else did his "fault."

It's about leadership needing to set a tone.

It's about a climate that emboldens violent, hateful, and crazy people.

It's about sending a clear, unequivocal message that targeting minority groups will not be tolerated.

It's about being precise and not sloppy with language.

I hope law enforcement and government officials step things up to make people feel and actually be safe.

This is not in the abstract; it is concrete and real and here.

That MLK quote I posted above has been echoing in my head.

Absolutely disgusting and horrifying. So sorry this is happening. Chat Icon and people really need to stop feigning ignorance. It's not helping. When David Duke crawls out of his hole to endorse the president, and the president dances around it, when the disgusting alt-right thinks they have a platform now - you can make the logical inference to 30 threats in one week. Yes, there may have always been threats, but not at this rate.

Other bomb threats reported at Edison, NJ, Scotch Plains, NJ, West Hartford Woodbridge CT today... 30+ incidents in 16 states according to an article I read. Normal?

I follow the ADL on FB they posted this an hour ago

We are deeply concerned about bomb threats at multiple Jewish community centers across the country. At this point, the threats do not appear credible. We are continuing to monitor, and ask that all Jewish community centers take time to review their security procedures. Resources can be found here

Unfortunately I feel like these radical crazies are getting exactly what they want, and on multiple levels. They are legitimately scaring the crap out of people because this is an organized attempt at creating fear amongst all Jewish people. And those people then think that anyone that supports Trump is just like these radical extremists. It's creating exactly the divide that they want.

I don't understand why Trump does not speak out against it. I do not think that he supports or condones this type of behavior. But I also don't know why people like Al Sharpton never come out and denounce violence against police when it is done in the name of BLM. They are clearly not advocating violence against police but they don't denounce it strongly enough or even at all.

To the OP: I'm sorry for today. I'd feel awful and scared too.

To lulu: I can see your point and I appreciate that you wish that Trump would speak out against this behavior.

Re: L Sharpton… He has denounced violence against police:

Mr. Sharpton denounced the attack on the Baton Rouge officers. “At a time when the country needs healing, this deplorable and merciless act of violence against officers of the law is wicked and we must fight the principalities of darkness and evil spirits that are turning to violence,” he said.

“We need more people that will stand up when cops are shot and we need more cops to stand up against bad cops when innocent lives are taken,” Mr. Sharpton added. “We have got to break this cycle of violence.”

Well that is nice to see that Sharpton did denounce it. How recent was that? And was that the only time? I have just found that when something happens and Sharpton surfaces he never says boo about the violence against police.

My thought on Trump is that he has his head up his ass and is too dismissive about what is really happening. He does need to send a message loud and clear.

I feel that Trump is actually far more supportive of Israel than Obama was. I actually see the radical left (not center left) as being very anti- Israel. There has been a very anti- Israeli culture growing on many college campuses.

I don't think these recent bombings are necessarily the far right- or because of Trump. In fact, I think Trump supporters tend to be more pro-Israel.

It will be very interesting to see who is actually behind these horrible bomb threats.

There are a few things I can say in response here. But I'll start with this: at a meeting today, leaders from Hamas asked Putin to use his relationship with trump to make the case for him to promote a more anti Israel stance.

Being pro or against Israel is not the same as being anti Semitic. And since hate groups like the KKK support trump, I will respectfully disagree with your assertations.

This is an important point- Trump is on the record as being pro-Israel, and some of his more articulate supporters have referenced this as a reason for wanting him in office BUT 1) he seems to be easily swayed, and he lets his convictions go in the direction of whoever he wants to curry favor with at that moment and 2) some of his very vocal supporters are also anti-Semitic. Can't believe people are already forgetting the group meeting in DC not long ago with all the Nazi salutes. They were all ardent Trump voters. And two more words: Steve Bannon.

I agree to respectfully disagree with you- I strongly believe that being anti- Israel is VERY much the same as being antisemitic. There is no difference. I will stand with the person who has at least, so far, been willing to discuss moving our embassy to Jerusalem rather than align myself with a party that voted against Israel at the UN. Jews in this country are more in danger with the far left encouraging the BDS on college campuses - it terrifies me to think of sending my children to college with that environment. That, to me, is the scariest antisemitic movement- as far as the KKK - he disavowed them anyway. Even if Putin and Trump have a relationship- his ambassador to Israel is David Friedman- that shows where his mindset is on Israel. Again, I am curious to see who is actually behind these bomb threats. Can't it be far left crazies that hate Israel? Or a pro-Palestinian group? I could be wrong- we'll see.

I know many disagree with me on this site- and there is much about Trump that I don't like- but as a Jew and as an Israeli American- with most of my fathers side killed in Auschwitz - I used to be a Democrat. But the party has swung too far left and is too anti- Israel for me- so I do feel safer with Trump in office.

People have VERY short memories. And that is such a key point is grappling with what is going on now.
