Need new hair color?
I have two young DC so my hair has taken a huge hit lately. I have never dyed before and my natural color is a dark chestnut but now it's kind of muddy. My grays are showing but I'm also old My salon recommended highlights but I'm bervous about the upkeep. I have long, almost butt length hair. What would be a good, easy coloring experience for a first timer?

I did highlights and first too and to be honest, I would skip them, they are a pain to keep up. My hair is dark blond but the color suddenly got very mousy and not in a good way. I would honestly just try a good drugstore hair color- there are so many shades that you will be able to match yours easily and it's inexpensive and easy to maintain. It's one of my post-DD-bedtime activities every 6 weeks or so.

Great ideas! I forget about drugstore color because the salons put the fear of God in you that it's will never come out good. I'll have to check out CvS later.

Because your hair is long, get 2 boxes.

Need new hair color?
Thank you! I ended up getting two boxes of L'oreal Preference in Dark Mahogany Brown and it gave a really beautiful and rich deep brown with a little bit of a reddish tint. I also went and got a trim and some layers. So glad I didn't spend a fortune at the salon. Even my hairdresser was impressed.

I had a Groupon for a cut & color in a fancy salon and really thought I'd see a huge difference, but I was unimpressed. Drugstore hair color has come a long way!
