Thanks!
Hi mama's. Just wondering if anyone drives to Brooklyn for work from Long Island? If so, what town do you live in? Trying to figure out what town would be good to live in if you work in Brooklyn.

Don't do it. I repeat ... Don't do it!!! I did it for MANY YEARS and it was horrendous! I was tortured sitting in traffic both ways. Map quest said 1 hour lol well it would take me 2 hours each way!

Id say don't do it but if you do (and I did until I got a job in Queens) don't go farther east than Merrick

Drive to Brooklyn for work?
What part of Brooklyn? I did it for several years and it was only 2-3 days per week but it SUCKED. I'm sure you know, the belt parkway is horrendous and what should've been a ~40min commute was sometimes 2 hours....

Drive to Brooklyn for work?
I traveled to BK from Queens. I worked downtown near tillary and it was bad! Not to mention the fortune I spent in parking because there's no street parking. So happy not to do that commune. If would easily take me an hour most days.

If you move, take the LIRR to Atlantic Terminal and then the subway. There is no way I'd ever drive that every day.

I live only 5-6 miles from downtown Bklyn & on the occasions I've gone in the car to work it's well over an hour each way & that's just to go those few miles. I cannot imagine driving into Bklyn every day from LI. Not worth it. Mostly everyone I work with from LI takes LIRR to Atlantic Terminal & then they walk or take subway. It's still not fast but better than sitting in traffic.

Drive to Brooklyn for work?
I drove from Bayside to East Flatbush and it took approximately 45 minutes to an hour during non- peak hours- I rarely had to commute during rush hour but when I did I allowed two hours--there was always some problem on road. I took the Jackie Robbinson parkway and there were frequently awful accidents and several times portions of the highway had to be closed to clear the accidents.

Ugh, it is horrendous. I was wondering if it was possible to live on li and soften the blow. We would be traveling to Williamsburg and possibly Carroll gardens.
The drive isnt too bad. From Manhasset, it used to take me a full hour to Williamsburg. I would take the Jackie Robinson and go down via Bushwick Ave or Cypress. If the Jackie was completely not moving, i would cut through Forest Hills and use Metropolitan Ave or Mrtyle. The good news is that the trip is doable if you use side streets.
