Last pregnancy, I was sick. I mean SICK from weeks 6-14ish. I took zofran off and on and didn't find it really helped much.

I was trying to stay optimistic this go-round (every pregnancy is different, right?) but I'm only 4 weeks along now and just got sick at the office.

My doctor phoned in a preemptive script for Diclegis but I haven't started taking it yet. Does anyone feel like it helped them?

Thanks!

I toughed it out in both my pregnancies. I didn't like taking medication. The initial surge of hormones might subside, maybe wait a little and see if it tapers off. If you really cannot function, take the meds, but my DR said Diclegis can make you drowsy.

I've read that about the drowsiness too. I'm also just not a fan of taking medication (regardless of the rating) during pregnancy. They always seems to rate well and then a few years later you are seeing an ad on T.V. to call some shotty law firm to sue.

I'm going to wait and if it truly becomes unbearable (as it was the last time) I guess I'll have to decide then.

So Diclegis is an antihistamine and vitamin B6.
That's really all it is.
The antihistamine will make you drowsy though- much like benadryl, or dramamine.

So I'd probably only take it at night- which kind of defeats the purpose if you are sick all day, kwim?

I asked my doctor about diclegis. I'm 9 w and terribly sick. I was with both my girls, too, and didn't take anything. But now it's almost impossible to function with two other kids running around. She said it helps, but it's a high dosage and suggested I DIY it with unisom at night and 25 mg of vitamin b6 every 8 hours during the day. It does help. This morning I dry heaved a little, but it was the first morning in weeks I didn't throw up. And I do feel a sense of relief a little while after taking the B6. It wears off before the 8 hour mark, but I'll take a few hours of feeling almost normal. Two nights in a row, I was able to eat dinner and keep it down.

I'm probably not the correct person to comment because I have hypermesis not just morning sickness. Dicigles helps but it takes at least 2 weeks to build up in your system. I have been on it for 8 weeks now and will be for my entire pregnancy.

Once your body gets used to it you can take it during the day but the two pills at night will make you feel groggy in the morning.

Oh, Diclegis, I could write a poem about it Chat Icon I don't know how else I would've functioned. I have hyperemesis with twins that's still going strong at 28 weeks. I still feel gaggy at times of the day, but before the meds I was dehydrated from not being able to get/keep fluids down. I stuck it out until 8-9 weeks and then I let my doctor convince me it was totally safe...haven't looked back.

I took it my first month and it helped a ton! I took it right before bed and it helped for when I first woke up in the morning. I would feel a little nauseous later in the day sometimes but didn't take a second pill (even though my Dr said I could take up to 3x per day)
ETA it worked for me right away...didn't take the 2 weeks that someone mentioned previously.

It has been a life saver. I have had constant MS all day everyday and now I can function without vomiting or nausea all day. I take 2 at nigt right before bed. I have felt twinges of feeling sick by about 4pm but tough it out till I take it at night.

Diclegis did nothing for me. It is basically b6 and unisom. Zofran helped alot more, but nothing really took the nausea away completely

Zofran helped me as well. I was on it my entire pregnancy.

So yesterday I got sick a total of 10 times and I caved and started the Diclegis last night and then again this morning and WOW the difference is amazing. I hope it lasts! My last pregnancy I took Zofran and it worked for 3-4 days and then wore off. Thanks for the input everyone.
