Updated with itinerary--Bareboat charter Bvi
I'm getting pretty excited! We are going on an 8 night sailing trip in the BVIs with my brother's and their families as well as our Mom. Our trip is in a few months.
We are kicking off the trip in St. Thomas and spending our first night at the Frenchman's Reef Marriot so everyone can meet up and the kids can have some land time.
We will be taking a ferry over to Tortola. We arranged to a Charter a 50' catamaran from Voyage charters which is located there. The plan is to board the boat a night early so the kiddos get acclimated and set sail the following morning.
Updated with itinerary: Day 1-Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriot Beach Resort Day 2-Sleep aboard/Catamaran Company/Fat Hogs Bay Day 3-Norman Island/The Bight Day 4-Jost Van Dyke Day 5-Virgin Gorda/The Bitter End Day 6- Anegada Day 7- Marina Cay Day 8-Cane Garden Day 9-Fat Hogs Bay Day 10-Depart
The itinerary may change based on the weather and how the kiddos are doing. My brother's 8 year olds already went with their mom last month and LOVED it!

This sounds amazing! We chartered with a captain and chef for our honeymoon and can't wait to get back with our kids. Which islands are you planning to visit?

We did a private day charter with Kuralu Catamaran in Tortola. We were only in Tortola for a day on our cruise. By far, Tortola and the charter were the highlight of the trip. Best snorkeling ever! My kids still talk about the trip. We can't wait to go back. Your trip sounds amazing!

What an amazing honeymoon!!
My brother is working on the itinerary this week so I'm not exactly certain yet. Their suggested tinerary is Norman Island, Peter Island, Cooper Island, Marina Cay, Virgin Gorda, North Sound and Anegada, Jost Van Dyke and Soper's Hole. He's tweeking it so it's geared toward the kids.

Updated with itinerary--Bareboat charter Bvi
My dad just booked us all on a very similar trip for next Easter. How old are your dc? I am curious to hear how they like it. Mine will be 12,10, 6, and 5, and I'm a little worried the younger ones will be bored. Have an amazing time and please update when you get back!!

I have done 2 charters and my favorite places are any of the bays along St John. You can go up to the road and catch a "taxi" into town. St john has soem amazing food options!!! also Jost Van Dyke to one of my favs just cause its soooooo laid back and basic. not much there but thats why I love it. I stay away from Tortola and St Thomas as much as possible as they are more populated.

Fun!
Will do!! I have a 5 yr old and my daughter will be turning 8 on the boat. Another family has twin 8 yr olds and the other a 4 yr old and almost 2 yr old.
My niece and nephew who are coming went in March and were definitely not bored. They are super excited to go again!
We each have assigned jobs lol...we are taking turns as the "activities coordinator" for the kids during sailing times.

That's awesome! I've only been to St. Thomas on a cruise. Definitely looking forward to disconnecting and getting some quality time in with the fam. Laid back is perfect for us!
Did you do bareboat charters or did you have a captain and chef? Do you remember which company you used?

We did bareboat. We sail up here so we didn't feel we needed a captain. I don't remember the first company we used. We had a 46 mono hull sailboat that time and the 2 no time was with CYOA and we had a 36' catamaran. Def liked the catamaran better. Both companies were out of St Thomas so we didn't have to worry about a ferry or flying into Tortola. We also always went in July because we would get 10 days for the price of 7.

Makes sense...I'll have to ask my brother why he always goes out of Tortola. We are taking the ferry...my husband does not like to fly. There is no way I would be able to get him on a hopper flight.

There aren't as many boats in St Thomas at least back then. And back in the day you could get decent sized planes into Tortola.
