Hair has changed...what to do?

We lived in Queens for 10 years and in that time, I had no real problems with my hair except that it's thin.

2 years ago, we moved. I was pregnant at the time. Last year, we moved again with a baby. Both times, in western suffolk.

I don't know if it's having the baby (which was almost 2 years ago...I'd think those hormones would be out of my system by now) or if it's the water.

But I feel like my hair is fluffier and different. Can't explain it. But it doesn't lay the same.

water? hormones? age? Has anyone's hair changed and why?

My hair has definitely changed since having kids. I used to have nicer curls but now they're looser and my hair is more wavy vs curly. Sometimes I like it but also get frustrated bc it's now in between so I have to actually do it to get it curly or straight (whereas before it was easier to get it curly)

I've heard your hair changes every 7 or so years so I guess that coupled with hormones from being pregnant as well as aging can have an effect on it.

Hair definitely changes on it's own over time.
I used to have pin straight hair, now my hair dries with a wave to a curl- but not a nice one that I could wear like that of course.

Also the hormones of having the babies can change your hair.

Age can change your hair

Lots of things.

Age, hormones, environment take your pick.

My hair is coarser as it gets grayer.
I used to have nice waves with a little curl, now I have a mish-mosh of waves, curls, tight curls and frizz that does not look good dried naturally.
I've also had hair loss with the stress of my mom's death, my DH's heart attack, and with my surgery 17 months ago. It did grow back.
I'm 50 if that helps....

All I'll say is, whenever I wash and air dry my hair while on vacation, it dries beautifully. Here, not so much. I'm gonna say it's the LI water... probably among other things too, but I don't think the water is innocent here lol

I remember when I was dating DH- he lived in Sayville and I lived in Nassau county.
When I would wash my hair at his place, it would come out AMAZING. Like insanely good. Like people would comment on how great it looked.
Nothing was different- same shampoo, conditioner, products.
It got to the point where I'd go there just to wash my hair. Once I even took gallons of water home in bottle with me to wash my hair with at home in the sink. (Nuts, I know! Chat Icon )

I live out here now, but not in Sayville, and I think the water is not great. I did try one of those water filters for the shower- you have to replace it every 6 months- Home depot sells it- it attaches right in the shower- no plumbing required.
I think that makes a little difference.
I find we have a lot of chlorine in our water and that can really wreck havoc on hair and skin

I went to college in upstate NY and my hair always looked better there than home...

Sigh.
