Personal style
Has anyone worked to really cultivate a sense of personal style? Allow me to ramble a bit.
I feel like I'm all over the place in terms of the clothes/shoes/etc that I wear. I feel like there's no cohesion, and I feel as if I rarely feel "put together." In my mind, I would love to look put together on a more regular basis-I love dresses and pretty blouses, but then as soon as it's cold or it rains I want to hibernate in a sweatshirt and sweatpants-and then I feel gross about myself. I know part of my struggle right now lies in the fact that I'm not happy with my body, since I had my 2nd kid about 4 months ago and I still have about 10-15 lbs to drop, plus some toning to do.
In the past two weeks I've had so many items delivered/tried on so many items at the stores, and haven't liked a single piece once it's actually on.
Then, to top it off, I feel like I'm hopeless with make up.
I don't even know where this is going, as I'm obviously a bit of a fashion mess right now lol. Any suggestions/advice?

Personal style
I know exactly what you mean. In general, I have upgraded my make-up routine to include make-up brushes, cc cream, etc. It's a lot more work to put on make-up now, but I have received a lot of compliments since I started. For clothing, I generally shop at Loft and use their mannequins as a guide. I know, it's kinda lame that I wear all their clothes, but I find it take a less effort since their clothing fits me well and the clothing (by default) matches.

Re: Personal style
This is me too. After having my 3rd a year and a half ago i spent the last year losing weight. Now that Ive lost the weight i have no clothes! I buy things but never feel put together or i buy a ton of things online and send most of it back becuase i don't like it for some reason or another. very frustrating.
I am clueless when it comes to makeup. Only wear lipgloss, mascara , eyeshadow and eye liner really. I am now on the hunt for organic/all natural versions that I can wear because i would like to start wearing them more frequently...

One piece of advice from Stacy London (What Not to Wear) that I follow is that you should buy outfits and not individual pieces of clothing. It takes some of the guesswork out of planning your outfits.

Re: Personal style
I started wearing makeup everyday after I had DD1 and i was 28 years old. I went to sephora told someone i want to start wearing light makeup everyday to brighten my face. Thats whe i started wearing eye concealer, blush, eyeliner, shadow, mascara daily. I only change the blush and eyeshadow color on a sat night. Work and weekend days are all the same
I don't accessorize much i wear pearl earrings or hugger most days and occasionally a statement necklace or hanging earrings. And a ring on each hand maybe a bracelet
I work in a corporate environment so it makes it easy that I can wear suits or slacks and a cardigan. Usually a sleeveless or long sleeve blouse underneath. I suck at mixing and matching. Most clothes are from ann Taylor, banana, tk maxx, NY & co or kohls
Weekends i am always in yoga pants or jeans. If im going to dinner or something i wear boots with heels a sweater and in summer a dress with wedges
I get a layered professional haircut every 2 months and recently manicures to feel more put together
I agree when you feel comfortable with your body it helps to find clothes you are comfortable in

Re: Personal style
For starters, and like a pp has said, it's so hard to feel put together and really feel like the best version of yourself when you're not comfortable in your skin. It took me a year after I had my DS to start feeling like myself again (physically). I had gained 55lbs which I lost slowwwwwly and wore man clothes- yes man clothes- in the process. Not my husband's ..I'd buy stuff new from men's sections of stores- jcrew outlet.. ha.
I'd consider tackling these things one at a time. Make a list- hair cut, new makeup, maybe a new handbag and/or sunglasses which always helps offer a new perspective on life lol. For clothing, look up mom fashion blogs and see what styles appeal to you. Some offer suggestions that are specifically nursing friendly, if that matters to you... or will give suggestions for styles that are more post-baby flattering. For shoes, I'd hold off on that till you get a sense of what you'll be wearing (unless you wanted to go with something classic and versatile.. black slip on sneakers, ballet flats, some cute sandals.. really can't go wrong with any of those)
Congrats on the baby!!

Thanks everyone. I finally found one sweater, and a new pair of louboutins ;)
I feel like I still have this ideal of dressing up more, and then it's cold and I want to hibernate.
Does anyone wear dresses/skirts on a regular basis? How do you stay warm?

I hate pants! I wear dresses and skirts every day to work. For the amount of time I'm outside, I just grin and bear it. I wear tights (fleece lined ones) when it's cold.
