Looking for non-grass or little-grass front property ideas.

I don't want the front of my house to look like a parking lot.

But I want a driveway and as little grass as possible.
Landscaping would be great, but little lawn.

Lawn will be in the back yard.

a few chairs and a table? a park bench? some pretty planters!?
you can do some "landscaping" with rocks, a waterfall, a statue, etc....
depends what you like

My neighbor has lots of perennials surrounded by mulch with no grass. The whole thing is shaded by a large flowering tree. It's really pretty.

You can do privacy fencing. Essentially, plant assorted sizes of evergreens shrubs and conifers. Look on pinterest.

Also, how much space do you have?

Thank you! I couldn't think of what it is called so my searches were falling flat.

It's about 75 wide and probably 30 deep.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

thats a pretty large area

What is your reasoning for not wanting grass?

I've seen those sorts of mulched and or rock filled areas with plants. They can look nice, they generally seem to be on smaller properties.

However, without dealing with the weeding and doing the upkeep, I've seen them also messy looking. I guess my point is, be careful what you do as you could end up with something that needs more upkeep than grass to look nice.

You do make a great point actually.

Maybe it's because I hate my lawn now. Maybe if we do sod and it's even and new I will like it better. Chat Icon
