Bayard Cutting Arboretum - Pictures
Do I need to have a permit??
The website says yes...but do I really? lol
I am meeting my usual photographer there on Friday for some pics of the kids and a family photo or 2. I suggested it because we live 2 minutes away and I've seen plenty of people taking holiday photos there before. did i need to get a permit?
anyone ever take pics there before without the permit?

I used to take them there every year, but myself not with a pro photog.
I am not sure how they knew I wasn't a pro but to be honest I never saw anyone who looked like they worked there roaming around so I never found out.

Thats what Im thinking! I've gone there so many times, not for pics, but to just walk around and there is never anyone around. I would hate to pay for a permit and not even have to show it to anyone...
Plus, whos to say shes not just my friend who followed us along to take some pics - I mean she sort of is a friend, Ive been using her forever so she gives me big discounts, lol.
anyway, worst case scenario, we get back in the car and drive to heckscher or something.

I think that's only the case if you're showing up there with limos, etc.

If they catch you without one, you may be asked to leave and the photographer may be asked not to return.

So I'm snapping pics of my DD on my phone as we stroll around the place and because she is "posed" i need to pay for a permit?
Please.
They can go scratch.
Just looking for money.
I took my Christmas card pics there with a DSLR camera 3 years in a row and had no issue.

yes. too many people take advantage and then when they close the park to pictures people will complain.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I understand people would take advantage - but its $100 for both wedding and general photography - I would pay that for wedding photos, but that is seriously ridiculous for general family photos...
$20 bucks for 30 minutes would be reasonable.

my cousin took her wedding pics there and I was in the bridal party. When we came in with the huge limo, they asked for the permit. I doubt you'd need one for non-wedding pics, though.

Yeah that I can see.
But just go and be discreet about it and I doubt they will even notice.
Like I said, I do it all the time and never even saw anyone around.
