Democrats Just Flipped Seats In 2 Districts That Voted For Donald Trump

Two districts that voted for Donald Trump in last year’s presidential election selected Democrats for state legislature seats in New York and New Hampshire on Tuesday night.
In a Long Island, New York district that Trump won by 23 percent, Democrat Christine Pellegrino defeated Republican Thomas Gargiulo in the race for a seat in the New York State Assembly. Pellegrino served as a delegate for Bernie Sanders at the Democratic National Convention last year, the local Patch reported.
The seat Pellegrino won on Tuesday had been held by Republican Joseph Saladino, who resigned earlier this year after being appointed to a local office. He had defeated his Democratic opponent in 2016 by 37 points. Prior to 2016, however, that same district voted twice for President Barack Obama, per Ballotpedia.
Democrats are also celebrating an upset in a New Hampshire district that Trump won by 7 points in November. Democrat Edith DesMarais defeated Republican Matthew Plache in a special election for a seat in the state’s GOP-controlled House of Representatives, WMUR reported. That seat had been held by Republican Harold Parker, who resigned to join the administration of Republican Gov. Chris Sununu.
While neither election will change the balance of power, Democrats are hoping the victories may signal a change in the political leanings of the country.

Hopefully this trend continues. Mainly to keep digging at trump and showing that people are getting tired of him, even his base.

Any other time in history, I would agree 100%. However, in today's political environment, things like this don't automatically disqualify anyone anymore.

Any other time in history, I would agree 100%. However, in today's political environment, things like this don't automatically disqualify anyone anymore.
Since most people voted already via mail-in balloting, he probably will be elected.

I live in the district Pellegrino won. If the Presidential election was tomorrow, I'm sure Trump would still win. This was a response to the local corruption with the Town of Oyster Bay Republicans not Trump. Also not many people voted. I went at 5pm and I was the 70th voter of the day.

Yeah first off these two elections are the equivalent of voting for class mom, so basically meaningless.
Secondly, I'm not understanding what there is to be happy about. Happy that Pellegrino was bought and paid for by the corrupt teacher's union that bought the election for her? Strange how they coincidentally gave her a $200K gift when she just so happens to have a $200K lien against her by the IRS....for not paying her taxes!!
As mentioned above, not many people vote in these special elections and the ones that do come out in force are the civil servants robots that are instructed to do so, so the liberal candidate usually wins them.
This is by no means a turning tide against anything Trump. Please don't complain one more time about LI taxes if you keep electing Democrats to waste our money and keep the teacher's union happy and on their side.

I am not sure this is a sign of anything and not sure where you got the info about the 200k she owes but if true it continues to highlight that politicians on both sides are corrupt and we (collective we) deserve better!
