Me again!

I have a ton of clothes I want to donate. A lot of new with tags, mostly things I have worn 2 times MAX. I called a bunch of shelters and they all turned me down. They all said they don't have enough storage. I refuse to drop them off in those bins. Does anyone know of any consignment shops where I can sell my clothes? Then I can just donate whatever money I get. It'll be a win/win.

I don't mind driving out east.

I'd love to know as well. I have some work clothing and sent an email to Dress for Success, but I haven't gotten a response. I really don't feel like dropping them off at good will.

in the heart of oyster bay on main st across from town office is a consignment shop. I cant remember the name, you must have at least 20 items for her to look at

Good will takes cloth, then sells them, located in East meadow and jericho

Try selling them on Poshmark or Mercari and donate the $$?

I was going to suggest one of those sites that others have that you mail in the clothes and they give you money for it.even if its next to nothing you can donate whatever you have.

I am really surprised shelters would turn you down. Have you tried finding a way to get in touch with women's safe houses maybe they would take them

Dress for Success has locations in NYC and Brookhaven in Suffolk. They are a great organization for quality workplace clothing for women just getting started in the workforce that need the help.

I have donated there and will again, but they make it kind of difficult to donate (the Suffolk location) - very limited hours for drop off - only Mondays during regular work hours (10:30 - 3:00) and every third Sat morning. I love what they do, so I make it happen, but just wish it was a little easier

Re: Me again!

Thanks everyone!! Dress for success would be good but it's mostly designer jeans and I don't even remember what else is in the bags. But def nothing for work. I've reached out to women's shelters and they all said they don't have the storage space. I have no patience for poshmark or eBay. I have 3 things listed and no bites. Just a million stupid notifications of ppl liking my stuff and calling me "doll". "Good luck doll !" Chat Icon

If it's designer jeans, check out Plato's Closet. That's more of their niche.

Me again!

Are you willing to drive 45 minutes to bergen county ? Pm me , there are dozens of consignment shops that will take your things and you can donate whatever profit you make.

We had a tooooooon of bags of clothes (and some household stuff) that we donated. We dropped off at the Salvation Army. You can schedule a pickup for them to come to you, too, but the bags were stored in the nursery and we needed to get them out of there sooner than the next pickup.
