Vacation without DC... what to say??
My DH and I have a vacation coming up and are now feeling guilty leaving our DD. We don't know what to say to her now that she's 4... lately she's been saying "I'll go with you" and will go run to get her shoes. We don't want her to be upset when we leave We're going for 4 nights... please help with ideas to make it easier on her and us.

Tell her that she's going to have SO much fun with whomever is staying with her. Tell her that she'll enjoy the break she'll get from being with Mommy & Daddy all the time bc she get to have special treats and stay up late. We did that with my son at that age and he was so excited for his "vacation" that he really didn't mind us leaving.

Vacation without DC... what to say??
we went away for that long when my son was that age, for our 10th anniversary. He was the SAME way!! I'm a SAHM and he was only in part time preschool- so he was pretty much ALWAYS with me or DH. My parents were watching him- and he was fine!! I just played up the fun things he was going to get to do with grandma and grandpa. i bought a couple Groupons for activities, for my mom to do with him--- so i showed DS and talked about those to get him excited. it all worked out great- he had fun, we had fun

Yes, I agree. You have to focus on what the kid is going to do, not you. Maybe get her a special suitcase or something else that she can use on her vacation. Play up all the fun she will have.

Vacation without DC... what to say??
We are going away for 5 nights in August. I've been talking to them about how much fun they are going to have with who is watching them. I'm trying to focus on that instead of us leaving! I think my 4 and 3 yo will be fine. I'm more worried about my 18 month old who is so attached to us!!

Re: Vacation without DC... what to say??
If I go out without DC, who is 5 and knows wha't up, even just for a mom's night out, I tell him it's a meeting or work thing. He's been dragged to work or meetings, he knows they're boring lol.
