Hard Wood Flooring
Anyone have any knowledge about hardwood floors?
We are converting our garage to make a larger living room and I want dark, wide plank hardwood floors. I've never had to purchase flooring before because the rest of our house is all original hardwood that we just sanded and stained. I am clueless on what type I should be looking for? Should I buy from lowes/home depot? Or am I better off buying from an actual flooring store. Help :)

My husband works for Long Island Paneling. They have the largest selection of wood/vinyl/laminate flooring products in the area. Go see them. They will answer all of your questions and help you find the perfect floor for your situation. He works at the location in Commack.

They are great to deal with! I worked with the guys in the New Hyde Park location and they were awesome. Would highly recommend them!

LOVE LI Paneling!! We've been using them for years (the Centereach location) and we got our hardwood floors there. We are on a slab so we ended up getting wide plank, hand scraped engineered hardwood. We have an underlayment down on the slab for moisture reasons and the floor "floats" meaning it's NOT nailed down. It goes to the walls and under the trim moulding but it's basically locked and glued together like one giant puzzle.
We laid the floors 12 years ago and they still look AMAZING and we have some VERY high traffic areas. There is NO wear on this floor, the planks look just as great as they did when we purchased them. It's an amazing product, I highly recommend looking into them. Our hardwood is by Mohawk.

Thank you for the kind words about LI Paneling. I work there as well and I will pass this along to our boss. It's nice to hear good things.
