Wildwood, NJ
I am looking to do a family weekend in September. I've never been to Wildwood but have read about a pier and waterpark. Is it good in the fall? My sons are 3 and 5 months. Obviously looking for something that'll keep my 3 year old entertained. We have Dutch Wonderfand planned for October. Any tips for there also would be appreciated.

Re: Wildwood, NJ
I love Wildwood! I only go in summer, but I would imagine it would be just as fun in the fall- minus the beach. (unless you get a warm stretch which in Sept is very possible!) It will also be less crowded, which is a plus because the restaurants and boardwalk all pack out in the summer.
The pier has 2 amusement parks and both have a lot of rides good for the little kids- you can buy a pay on price bracelet or pay per ride.
The water park is there too but we havent' gone- plus if you are going in fall it might be too cold. (again, maybe not in Sept)
You MUST go to the Cape May Zoo- it's about 20 min drive from Wildwood and it's free! They have a great playground with a BBQ area, some rides, and some awesome animals and a reptile house, etc Its awesome for kids.
We stay in Diamond Beach- it's about 10 min drive from the main part of Wildwood and a lot less crazy. We like the quiet/residential feel and we just drive over to Wildwood for the action.
In terms of DW, I am pretty much an expert on that by now, so let me know what questions you have!

All of this information is SO useful. Thank you so much!! I haven't been to Dutch Wonderland since I was a kid. We will be staying a long weekend in Lancaster, Amish View Inn? If you have any information you'd like to share about Dutch Wonderland or the surrounding area that'd be excellent. I really appreciate it!!

No info on DW but we have stayed at the Amish View Inn before and love that place. The breakfast is really good.

We went last September and had a good time. It was quieter than the summer months. We went to the beach, pool, and walked the boardwalk. Stay near the boardwalk. There is a lot to do on the boardwalk including rides.

I can recommend some restaurants for dinner and breakfast. The Oregon Dairy serves a great breakfast, is SO kid friendly (all kids get a goody bag when they come in with crayons, snap braclets, etc) and outside is a small play ground area, a pirate ship and some animals.
For dinner- Lancaster Brewing Company is awesome and also has a kids menu
The food in DW is pretty awful so avoid it if you can. You can leave for lunch and come back in- there are a bunch of places nearby to eat lunch like Sonic, Red Robin, etc

I took your recommendation last year and stayed at Icona and did the cape may zoo too. We had a great time!

Wasn't the Icona nice? I love the little kitchens in each room!

Most places are BYOB so you can bring some wine down or buy it at the liquor stores down there and bring with you to the restaurant . I will look into some restaurants and get back to you but most are super kid friendly and casual. Taste of Italy is good but they don't take reservations and the wait can get insane on weekends

We love the Starlux. But, I'm going to warn you, if you have a suite with a balcony, don't let them outside. The last time we were there, the gaps were way too large in the railings, and a small child could fit through. I did bring it to their attention, so I'm not sure if they rectified it. Hopefully they did
As for restaurants......there is really nothing GREAT that we found right there in Wildwood. Duffy's is good for breakfast (and they have cute mini golf)

I agree about the food. It's eh at best even at the nicer restaurants. But I do love it there so I can deal with mediocre food for a weekend.

We are staying at the Starlux this weekend. We love wildwood. I have 4 kids and we always have a great time. I don't love the food there though and haven't had much luck with the restaurants.

Re: Wildwood, NJ
I just found this place that we tried last year. It was actually pretty good, the owner was super nice and came to the table to make sure all was good, and it was kid friendly. They had a kid's menu for DD.
Maybe check it out:

Re: Wildwood, NJ
Awesome thank you. We're looking to do the long weekend in September but I noticed that in the fall the Pier hours are limited, closed on Thursday and doesn't open until 5 on Friday. Maybe we can plan the Zoo or something for Thursday or Friday morning. Thank you again for all the suggestions, we are looking forward to it.

We have been to bandanas Mexican restaurant a few times. Otherwise we cook our own food or eat at the boardwalk.
