Deciphering true fact from slanted news in the Charlottesville incident
This is a tough one. Despite my political beliefs, I have had some trouble putting into words an opinion that makes sense and doesn't represent one side only because wholeheartedly, I can see how difficult it is for each side to express their opinions effectively. I don't even know what I am looking for... maybe just to vent? To hear that others are having a hard time too?
I think that I like basic facts, and Reuters does just that. ______________________________

The violence in the Southern college town of Charlottesville on Saturday was widely condemned, with many politicians and activists on both the left and right also criticizing Trump, a Republican, for waiting too long to address it and when he did so, failing to explicitly condemn the white-supremacist marchers who ignited the melee.
On Sunday, however, the White House said in a statement that Trump's remarks on Saturday condemned all forms of violence and bigotry, including neo-Nazi groups and the Ku Klux Klan.
"The president said very strongly in his statement yesterday that he condemns all forms of violence, bigotry, and hatred, and of course that includes white supremacists, KKK, neo-Nazi, and all extremist groups," the White House said. "He called for national unity and bringing all Americans together."
The violence has put fresh pressure on the Trump administration to take an unequivocal stand against that segment of his political base. Some rightists have claimed allegiance to him.
Trump said on Saturday that there was more than one side to the Charlottesville incidents. _____________________________________ I believe that all Americans have the right to demonstrate, yes, even the KKK and white supremacist neo-nazi groups, as long as the apply for the permits and follow the rules so as not to create a clear and present danger. (i.e. keep moving, no masks)
Is the alt-right violent by nature? will counter protests only create a violent situation? why are there two vAstly different opinions on Trump's response?

I am also sorry that I completely left out the fact that an innocent victim died trying to stand up to these neo-nazis.

Re: Deciphering true fact from slanted news in the Charlottesville incident
What Trump said vs. what he SHOULD HAVE said.
Conservative journalist Timothy Stanley weighs in on the situation:
After an unusually long period of silence, the President finally said something. He denounced "hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides." He did not denounce the racist demonstrators in particular -- even though it was they who created, at the very least, the conditions for anarchy.
To be fair to Trump, some commentators have not reported his remarks in full. Towards the end of his statement, he said that all Americans -- regardless of "color, creed, religion or political party" -- are Americans, and that they need to put aside their differences and learn to respect and "love" each other.
When he looks at what happened in Virginia, I infer that he sees not a prejudice problem but a crisis of law and order. Indeed, many conservatives insist that the Ku Klux Klan and Black Lives Matter are as bad as each other, that they both believe in an un-American politics of identity that sparks disorder.
The problem with this view is that it's totally out of step with reality. American history and society are not color-blind. Black Lives Matter, for all its faults, sees a truth that Trump does not: America operates an unjust racial hierarchy in which people of color are relegated to the bottom. When African-Americans protest, they are expressing their powerlessness, they are punching upwards.

Black Lives Matter, for all its faults, sees a truth that Trump does not: America operates an unjust racial hierarchy in which people of color are relegated to the bottom. When African-Americans protest, they are expressing their powerlessness, they are punching upwards.
White supremacists, by contrast, enjoy power and authority. They are punching downwards out of irrational hate. By refusing to identify the very particular problem and evil of white racism, Trump thus divorces himself from reality. He also causes pain where a president ought to try to heal. Their protest was terrifying but it was small. And it would've probably taken place whether Trump was in the White House or not. Recall that David Duke, the former Klan leader currently enjoying some undeserved media attention, ran as a GOP candidate for governor of Louisiana and won a majority of the white vote way back in 1991 -- long before Trump and despite being denounced by almost the entire Republican Party.
But conservatives have got to ask why the far-Right so often identifies with their leaders and why it is that the President's type of rugged patriotism spreads not unity, as it promises, but disunity, disagreement and outright hate. Trump is plainly not bringing America together in the way he promised.

Re: Deciphering true fact from slanted news in the Charlottesville incident
trump spend years criticizing Obama for not saying "Radical Islamic Terrorist", even though he consistently denounced terrorism and acts of violence.
If trump won't explicitly call out Radical Extremist White Terrorists, then by his own definition, he's causing it, and endorsing it, and doing nothing to stop it. His own words, not mine...
"When will President Obama issue the words RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM? He can't say it, and unless he will, the problem will not be solved!"
And towards Hillary:
""She is in total denial," Trump said. " And her continuing reluctance to ever name the enemy broadcasts weakness across the world.""
"These are radical islamic terrorists and she won't even mention the word, and nor will President Obama. He won't use the term ‘radical Islamic terrorism,’" Trump said during the Oct. 9 debate at Washington University in St. Louis. "Now, to solve a problem, you have to be able to state what the problem is or at least say the name. She won't say the name and President Obama won't say the name. But the name is there. It's radical Islamic terror."

First alt-right = white supremacists (those that think their race is superior)
I dont know about all white surpemicists being "violent by nature" but since names of those in the photos and the one murderer have come out we are finding out more about their backgrounds
My opinion on the counter rally is that yes you show up it could get ugly. Yes we could sit back and ignore the ignorant but this is not part of the resistance or what some people believe
People are backing Trumps response because they probably are also in the opinion of Trump Bannon Miller Sessions (all have some link to white supremacy). You cant change inherent racism just read the comments on News12 on FB right here on our own LI!

The same goes for those that are defending this group of white supremacists holding nazi salutes and many with ties to KKK. How can anyone, unless you feel as they do , defend them!?!

For me personally, I don't usually blame or call out groups or messages that I agree with......

Re: Deciphering true fact from slanted news in the Charlottesville incident
I think it's pretty safe to conclude that anyone who considers themselves 'alt right' did not vote for anyone but Trump. And he knows it. They're his base, especially as the working class folks who thought they were his base aren't getting what they hoped for.
He has been quick to condemn so many in the past, and most recently Ken Frazier who quit his manufacturing panel. And yet not a word against American Nazis, or Vladimir Putin.

Someone has him by the ball$ In order to speak more freely, Bannon will have to go. And, according to the Mooch, he's out by the end of the week.

According to the Mooch? He can kiss my ass! The clown that lasted a whopping 10 days. ?? That loser has a gutter mouth, an ego bigger than Trump's and actually stooped low enough to use the term " paranoid schizophrenic" as an insult. Guess what Mooch? Go visit your local mental health facility and see the souls suffering with the most horrific of mental illnesses. Yea, he's in the circle of trust.
